So, in the good old days of DDR memory, one simply had to take the fsb of the processor (lets use amd chips), multiply by 2, and you'd get the optimal ddr speed. Athlon XP with 133mhz fsb = ddr 266 Athlon XP with 166mhz fsb = ddr 333 Athlon XP with 200mhz fsb = ddr 400 ... and so...

Apple making servers now?

Yeah. Virginia Tech made a supercomputer with a 1100 of those apple XServes, (were originally G5s, then upgraded). They're pretty nifty.

wow.. samsung harddrive is awesome!

Just went from a seagate 7200.7 80gb to a samsung 250gb. I couldn't stand the annoying offline seek that the seagate did. Super happy with the Samsung.

Once again...real world or benchmarks for raid0.....

MicroATX questions

They are fine, as long as you have good airflow. I have the Inwin V500T, and there's a hole in the side panel right over the cpu fan, so the air going to the cpu is 80% from out side the case. The psu has a 12cm fan which pushed the hot air directly out. And there's another hole in the panel...

New system, GPU getting too hot...

I had a Zalman VF-700 on my Radeon 9800pro. Very nice cooling performance, and not loud at all. I'd recommend it over a ducting-fan-with-paperclips-and-lipstick McGyver solution. Edit: This is what I am talking about.

how often do you reinstall Windows XP?

Used to do it every few months on the family computer. Got sick of it, and put Ubuntu on it. Haven't had to touch it since (a year ago). All the system is used for is email/surf/listen to mp3. Strange thing is that my parents actually prefer it to windows now.

The original design was a BTX case. Then they made a microATX version of it (this one). But since its based on a BTX design, it looks a lot like it, and the mobo gets installed upside down.

i think the VGA silencer fried my card

I just installed a Zalman VF700 on my 9800pro three days ago. The first thing I noticed whtn I took the stock hsf off was the shim. I immediately took it off with an exacto knife. There was no way I'd risk a shim ruining a good card. Live and learn I guess. Good luck with your new card.
