Nvidia's GeForce Experience aims to streamline PC gaming

Er.. it is beta. Closed beta at that. Calling it 'worthless' at this stage is unfair. Maybe they haven't put in the idiot-proofing yet.

Video card upgrade advice?

7850's are still hovering around $200 today. 6850's from the last generation are still hovering in the $150-180 range (despite the fact I got mine years ago for less!). Unless you plan to purchase used, I really don't know that the card will dip that low especially in the 2-4month timespan.

That comparison is pretty impressive since the 5xx series is supposed to be "last gen" tech. Until you get down to the power consumption section, anyway. Holy crap.

Recommend me a vid card for $200 or less

Just putting this out there as an option, but it appears that a GTX 660 will also hold its own against the 7850/7870. Not as overclockable, though. It really comes down to what deals pop up in the near future. In the past few weeks, the 7850 has gone as low as ~$150AR, the GTX 660 for ~$165AR...

Christmas Shopping time: Best bang for buck Radeon VC

Those prices only come around in rare deals, and usually sell out within minutes. Right now, prices are hovering around $180-200 for the 7850 and $220-$250 for the 7870, which is unfortunate. I've been waiting on the 'right' 7870 deal myself, and have missed the few that have happened.

I've read Galaxy is a big brand in Europe. I believe they stick to mostly stock/reference designs similar to VisionTek/Zotac. Not many bad reviews of their products overall, they just aren't in the 'enthusiast' range.

Actually, I think the 660ti's _do_ overclock fine. It is just the 660's that are hampered. In case it is easier to save for those instead of 670's.

Thanks all. Decided to hold out for one of those magic 7850/7870 deals. If a 660ti comes along at $200 I'll snap it up, but I consider that pretty unlikely (not without a 7870 doing the same!)

I'm curious how much of a deal this is... found an Asus GTX 660 OC (not Ti!) for $199 + $10 rebate. I've been waiting on a deal for either a 7850 or 7870, but they seem to be few and far between (or OOS). I was _really_ wanting to get a 7870 at $199, and if I go with the 7850 I was hoping for...

Correct, online sales went up, but retail sales were down despite breaking records in number of people actually shopping. Obviously the online hunters were looking for things other than what those of us here were looking for :)

Very good point, as checking with a random item (okay, not so random) does show it to be the current price. I think tigerdirect flips in ~2hours though unlike newegg which is still ~5hours away.
