74gb Raptor 8mb VS. 74gb Raptor 16mb

I have two of these stripped in a RAID 0 and in HD Tach I am bursting at over 200MB/sec. on the 8MB cache version. Anything faster and we would be in ludicrous speed.

Koolance Setup

Koolance and Corsair offer some really good external solutions. personally i have only used the Corsair unit, and i can say that it is plenty of cooling even if your thinking about overclocking. i had a 2.4c overclocked to 3.6Ghz at 1.625v all day under one of those puppies. very easy to use...

A cool looking heatsink/fan?

definatly the Zalman 7000A-Cu. its solid copper and has 200 fins which make it look like a beast when its installed. i have one on my fx53 which shows through my window side panel. looks killer and its functional. keeps my hot a$$ fx53 at 35c idle, and 45c load.

watercooling primary HD?

i have used many different types of watercooling, phase change, and other exotic methods of cooling. i have never used a custom HDD cooler though. if you are paranoid and think your drive needs it, then by all means, cool that sucker! ;) but i have never had any problems with overheating a HDD...

How should I set up my drives?

if i were you, i would get those optical drives seperate from each other. do not put 2 optical drives on the same channel. i suggest using one HDD and one optical per channel.

well, i would say the P4 2.4c. ive had two of these bad boys and both did 3.6Ghz straight out the box on stock cooling at 1.625v. they were of course sl6z3 m0 steppings and were made in costa rica...go figure. for benchmarking and encoding, bandwidth pwns... for gaming, clockspeed pwns... but...

well, i already had one. it did 3.9 ish on the max3 volt modded under my vapochill, but i have wanted a 4Ghz chip for a long time, so i bought this 3.2. it does well. the 3.2 will do 263fsb at 5:4 since my memory will not run DDR526. but the thing is, at 250fsb 1:1 2-2-2-6 with StreetRacer...

Testing Refurblished CPU

IMO, if your processor can run sandra burn in overnight with no problems, then your setup is fine. plain and simple. it sounds to me like you are getting to complicated with the whole P95 thing. just run Sandra CPU Burn In overnight, and if everything is fine when you wake up, your CPU is ok...

yes, my 3.2c is also an AEP which has the new 8 layer substrate. the complete underside of the chip is covered in smd's just like the EE, and m0 stepping's. most of intel's chips will be going to this new style of packaging known as AEP.

please clarify on this, because that is not true on any processor i have ever owned. sounds to me like you have either 1) gotten some seriously awesome overclocking chips that require no voltage increase at all, or 2) youve gotten crapy chips that dont like voltage, and will not overclock well...

yeah the P4P800 reads about 7-10 degrees cooler than any other board. seems to be an issue with the Asus boards. still, very nice temps.

if you plan on doing extreme overclocking, then go with ABit Max3 and volt mod the board. if not, then go with Asus. Asus has a problem with Vcore fluctuation when voltage is over 1.6v. Abit has a Vtt problem in which Vtt stops tracking Vddr after 2.8v. so, if your memory is set to 3.2v, Vtt...

What's a safe chipset voltage?

my Mushy lvl2 is running 250 2-2-2-5 in my Abit Max3 at 3.3v with the psu 3.3 rail volt modded. i say apply the vdimm mod to that nf7 since its such an easy mod. bring it to a TV repair man if you cannot do it yourself. and then mod the 3.3 rail to say 3.6v. you will be good to go if your CPU...

another 2.8c @ 3.53ghz ~ but on def vcore!

nice OC thugs...just got my 3.4c couple weeks ago, and put it under my Vapo. does 3.94ghz at default voltage. only bad thing about this is my Max3 has some serious Vcore problems. the Vcore fluctuated rediculously. im talking .3v at a time up and down! if i increase Vcore to 1.6v at default...

Normal temperatures?

what are the normal temperatures for Pentium4 processors? whats the range? whats considered harmful? my main concern is a freind of mine just bought a 2.8ghz and now his temps are 60C whereas mine are only 46C. i was wondering if his temps are harmful, or even if mine are harmful?
