Like I said... I already own both. I just needed advice on which to use where. Right now I'm just trying to make the Plextor work at SATA 6.0G speeds.

I'm afraid neither of those updates did anything. The SSD Performance Analyzer still caps at 375MB/s, and the BIOS still detects it at 3.0G.

You might be able to boot from an SD card if you set the first boot device in your BIOS as "Removable Media" or "Removable Storage" or whatever it's called. Also, if you can get Windows 7 to treat your SD card like a USB flash drive you should be able to make a recovery drive that way. Or you...

If you have Snow Leopard or Lion, I believe they both have native NTFS read/write support. At any rate, yeah you won't notice any slow-down with drivers on a USB 2.0 drive.

Because first and foremost, drive storage speed is arguably the least important factor to gaming performance. The second reason is that OCZ and Corsair simply are not as reliable as Samsung, Crucial, or Plextor. OCZ is especially not reliable.

HDD boots into windows but doesn't show up in bios boot order.

Something made your MBR think the 60GB drive is the drive with the Windows install that it wants to boot from regardless of the order. On its own it no longer detects a bootable OS on the 250GB unless you force it as the only option. What happens if you unplug the 60GB drive and boot normally...

I would say get the Samsung 830 or a Plextor M3 if you can, just because they're both newer, but if you decide to go with the Crucial M4 for whatever reason, you're still getting a good SSD. :)

Hey so my Plextor came, and it says it has firmware 1.01. I burned the 1.05 firmware to both USB and CD and neither will boot. When I boot from USB it says something like "Remove other drives and press any key to restart", even when I have no other drives plugged in. I can't even get it to boot...

What hardware do people use to store backups on?

I have an external USB 3.0 HDD for maintaining an up-to-date back up of my Steam, videos, music, pictures, and documents, while things that I deem the utmost important I have also on my MacBook and my USB flash drive, just in case.

The Vertex 4 has indeed been found to be faster than many of the other top SSD performers in some of the tests, but the fail rate and hassle has been extremely evident in OCZ's less-than-stellar SSD history.

PNY flash drives are pretty bad, aren't they?

PNY is by no means a bad flash drive company. Personally I like SanDisk drives, and I have a Kingston right now. Patriot drives are fast but have a variable reliability record. Of course, Corsair has its high-end market. I'd avoid SuperTalent. Just my opinions.
