Are ASROCk motherboards any good?

I bought the ASRock H97M Pro4 motherboard, and I'm very happy with it, insane boot times with an ssd, good software for support and very good quality for the price. They used to be an ASUS company who sold lower tier motherboards, but I think they are a different company now.

32 inch HDTV looks horrible

Also, don't forget to re-name the entry like HDMI 1 to PC or computer, many HD TV's have a configuration for working like a PC monitor, you just need to activate it. This happened to me, when I renamed the entry HDMI 2 to PC the screen blinked and surprise, better text, colors, everything...

Anybody else disappointed that Anandtech didn't do Microsoft's Windows 10 event?

They couldn't do the Windows 10 event because they weren't invited to the event. Besides I'm expecting the Windows 10 review when it comes out.

Using different sticks of RAM

Yes it will be fine, just make sure you have them in the correct slot for dual channel configuration, like: A1 Kingston HiperX B1 Another DIMM A2 Kingston HiperX B2 Another DIMM Your motherboard will have it different check your manual.

If I could afford it, I'd buy everything top of the line. That's why luxury products exist, you can get a cheaper one that can do the job but it's not best out there, like sport cars.

Problems with R9 270x install

Install 1 at the time, make it primary then install the second one. It sounds like a configuration problem, also check your motherboard manual to see which PCI slot is the primary, usually the top one but can vary. Good luck

Poll on paying for games

Pay one-time or subscription (not together) if it's a online-only game like MMO's, will never pay a "season pass", "online pass" or whatever ripoff the publishers invent. Also DLC should be free unless it's an whole expansion that adds substantial new features.

H1Z1 - may be better than DayZ! from SOE - FTP

I really hope H1Z1 delivers what DayZ didn't. I played the mod a lot, like it a lot, got hyped up with the promised fixes in SA, quit playing and start waiting on SA, just bought DayZ SA last month just to realize it's has basically the same or more problems than when I played the mod years ago.

Just look for region-lock games on steam. I think this sites buy keys in countries were the prices are in the local currency, a game in the US sells for $59.99 USD, but in Mexico it sells for $699.99 MXN, that's $46.66 USD the same applies to other countries and in Asia countries are far more...

Awesome Open World MMORPG "Identity" on Kickstarter

I don't like the current situation with early access games, too many problems, no updates or not fast enough, core functions bugs, etc. Until a see some footage of gameplay this is just one of many kickstarter projects.

okay seriously i need major help

My advice: Get the all the money > buy all the parts The reason is if you buy a CPU today, in 6-12 months it will be outdated/cheaper, same with everything else. In the mean time, research reviews/builds/forums/youtube on building a PC, there are very good information out there.

Long term build

I always plan my next build when I have the money on hand, in the hardware world everything changes fast, so a recommended build today (early 2015) will not be the best option if you will buy all the parts in mid 2015 late 2016.

AMD A8-7600 or Intel Core i3-4150

Yes, I just received my ASRock H97M Pro4 and I'm pretty happy with it, I'm not an OC guy so the H97 is what I needed. The main difference is that the H97 has limited overclocking vs the Z97 which is the best option if you will overclock your CPU.

Building a new Haswell PC, Need MoBo advice

ASUS or GIGABYTE ASRock is good too but more budget oriented, never tried MSI motherboards. I just bought H97M Pro4 and I'm very satisfied with the quality for the price I paid.

What is the best way to find most up-to-date drivers for entire PC?

Motherboard gets hot playing game... help?

Hi, As DigDog said check the heatsink on your motherboard, also you can verify the temperature with your hand, just be careful and start with the PC cooled down not on heavy load, if the motherboard feels hot there my be a problem with it if not it can be a software issue.
