Trinitron going out? and 16ms 1" LCD?

just make sure you check the xbit labs list to confirm that the lcd you're buying is truly 16ms.

UT2004 needs 1024MB of RAM??

i went over to the minimum hardware reqs page and it said: 128mb minimum 256mb recommended 512mb (what i have, and game runs poorly) 1024mb (game actually runs smooth for me) i'm getting choppy play at 512mb. it's not the usual kind of choppy play, but my keyboard/mouse will stop responding...

thanks for the replies guys. i don't actually expect to hit 233fsb. i just want to know that i can stick the ram chips in there. at the very least, i want to know that i'm not limited by ram speed for my OC.

i always had full stability at 210FSB, but never above no matter how much i fiddled with the voltage. i suspect the ram, so i want to upgrade to the samsung pc3700. my question is.... will this ram work with my mobo? the asus site says up to pc3200. help?

An LCD is inferior to the CRT, just as the transistor is inferior to the tube.

doh. i hope you didn't buy that 172x. that thing has terrible reviews, and ghosting up the ass. here, in south korea, those monitors got recalled a couple weeks after release. afaik, there is only one true 12ms panel from samsung, and that isn't available in the states. also, you should wait...

ditto on the ati tool. it's awesome cos you can set it to run at a certain speed in 2D, and crank it up in 3D. AWESOME. not only that, but it'll find your highest possible overclock without artifacts.

ok. i just won $500 at the casino, and decided to splurge on this monitor. everything is as i expected. PROS: everything is great. you can play games perfectly (almost) at 1024x768 instead of the native 1280 resolution. you won't be able to tell the difference running at 1024 or 1280...

GOOD: it's got the best viewing angle. one of the best as far as image quality. you can tilt, pivot, 180 degrees anyway you want. looks really freakin good. one button, auto sensor bright/contrast. BAD: 25ms. i'm going to be waiting for samsung's 12ms panels, which should be out this year.

9800 pro BURNING HOT?!?

i got the ICE-Q because it's built-in with an arctic VGA cooler. AFAIK, this is the quietest and coolest solution on the market. especially because it kicks the hot air out of the system. the problem isn't the gpu, rather the ram. to combat the problem, right now i've got a low rpm fan...

don't buy the silentcase thing from japan. your drive will be hot and it's too expensive. take a look at this. look on the same site to find a DIY version. since you've got 5 drives, it'll be worth it.

Add ram or upgrade video card?

i'm at 512mb ram now, and frequently going over that amount when i play ut2003. and once you go over the physical ram, then the system crawls. these days you should have a MINIMUM of 512 if you play games. btw, throw out your system and build a nice barton 2500 setup OCed to 3200 for about $500.

see it here. let's hope this one doesn't turn out to be recalled like the 177x. this link says that it's 25ms, but the samsung site says 12ms. if they come out with a dvi version, i'll be sure to plunk down the cash.

2500+ Barton won't hit 200fsb. Help? Settings?

DEFINITELY 3200, if not higher. there is no price difference between 3200 and 2700. you can always make 3200 run at 2700, if you need to. i'd even say go for PC3500. most 2500 bartons can go to FSB of 210 or even higher. in that case, you don't want the ram to stop you from overclocking even...

Whats your CPU voltage AMD Barton and T-Bred users?

2500 @ 3200 (210FSB) default 1.65volts stable at 215FSB and 1.75 volts, but i like default voltage. i have a feeling i could push this sucker to 220 or higher, but i don't know what's holding me back. ram? agp divider? btw.. i don't know anything about agp dividers.

found it for under $50 my zalman is actually cool to the touch with the case off. COOL, not even warm. since my temps report in the 50s, i would actually have to get air to drop below ambient to get it cooler at the die. at this point... don't you think it's better to go for watercooling?
