I share your skepticism, I see a lot more dark clouds as opposed to silver linings in STv2. It sounds like there's a lot of moving parts there in it's development. Company acquisitions often cause philosophical differences between parent and child development teams.

I've had to substitute stand-alone lights to replace the Wink lights that are in the lighting fixtures, so it's a bit more extensive than turning on a switch for me. I do agree that I'll be sticking with Wink until something comes around that is proven better. I'm using Trunzoc's voice control...

Being that I can't use most of my lighting, I'd prefer to defer any updates. I've gotten used to my doors being locked automatically...Guess I'll have to take extra caution to make sure I lock them leaving the house.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to <del>quit drinking</del> install Wink. Time to get the ladder out and replace a GE-Link bulb and attach it to a Wemo. ETA: That works, now I won't have to depend on my computer monitors for light.

From what they were saying on the XDA thread, you can root during an upgrade. Though you have to catch it at just the right point. I d/l'ed your last version of your web control site; looked really good. I'll try today's revision once my hub has returned from it's staycation.

My understanding is that when the Wink hub first came out(firmware v0.37, I believe) there was an exploit left open that allowed it to be rooted. This exploit was soon corrected, so if a hub has been connected to the internet and received an update, it can no longer be rooted using that exploit...

I have one robot to turn one light on when my wife enters and leaves, it's never worked upon her arrival and rarely works when she leaves. Geofencing is hard to do without a pretty bad battery drain, unless you can calibrate it pretty finely. I use autolocation for my geofencing to lock/unlock...

As I think I mentioned, I have the Asus Zen Watch. I've always preferred square(or rectangular) watches so that worked out well. I'm happy with the battery life, last night I plugged it in and it still had 48%. Using the watch to give voice commands is still a lot of fun even after three weeks.

I'd start by putting an alert-flash for %raw and see if the output from autovoice is correct. Check the tasker variables for the wink project, make sure that CR-LF, WinkDeviceWords, and WinkSceneWords are populated. These are populated in the first 3 lines of the Wink Get Devices task.

Is the Wink Hub API the check to see if the hub has connectivity? The reason I had an entry for the hub(I didn't initially, but added it) was that I was having problems with hub connectivity. I moved the hub further from the router(actually to the bathroom), and I've not had further problems...

I'll explain before I go to bed:awe:. The API call to change the state of a device is Update(PUT.../{device_type}/{device_id}); for a group, you ACTIVATE it(POST ... /groups/{group_id}/activate). Groups also have UPDATE, that's to update group membership.
