I did the same thing years ago with my current build. I designed the whole thing for overclocking but when I got it all together I didn't really see any need because it ran almost everything perfectly. core 2 duo's sure were awesome for their time.
Well after this thread I was definitely wanting the 4670K but I have a bit less money than I thought I did for this upgrade. To be honest, I like all three. 2500k, 3570k, 4670k.
I am ordering in probably about a week and will probably just get the one that I can make fit my budget or what is...
cool. Well it's settled then i am getting that combo.
I have a gtx 760. 1080P
games like, ARMA 3, ARMA 2, Rome 2, Civ 5 HoI series. Strategy games. etc.
The reason I am so focused on overclocking is because most of the games I play are CPU limited and I want to get the best performance possible which is why I posted this thread.
I know the 4670K is better clock for clock and has more IPC and more features.
It's ok though, I agree with...
4670K it is then.
Just 2 more questions though.
Can the Asrock mobo that Essence_of_War posted overclock ok and does it have the F8 boot menu thing?
Sorry for the noob question.
Ok thanks for the replies. There is one more thing for me to consider though.
I am on somewhat of a limited budget for this upgrade and this will actually be my first overclock ever.
I read that the 2500K is easy to overclock and the 4670K is very hard to overclock.
I also read that the...
I know most people will say the 4670K is better but what about for games that are CPU limited?
It kind of seems like in these games the higher clocked 2500K would be better? Or is this wrong?
I'm thinking I will get about 4.8 GHZ out of the 2500K and 4.2 GHZ out of the 4670K.
I can only...
Where to buy i5 2500K new that ships for a good price?
I have been searching but cant really find anything.
Please respond if you know where to get these CPU's.
Thanks.
I am ordering a new video card for an older gaming computer. I have decided to put a cheap 9600 GSO or 9600GT (haven't decided yet) in the computer for now and then in about a year put a GTX 280 or something more powerful in it.
The computer needs a new power supply no matter what. The one...
Hi, thanks for the reply. Just curious, what does Asus or Nvidia list the system requirements for this card?
I cant seem to find it on there website.
The rest of the system is lower end and only hd and dvd, not very much at all.
But I am wondering, what does Asus or Nvidia say about...
I cant seem to find the official system requirements for this card.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814121319
Asus 9600GSO 384 MB
Mainly I want to know the official power supply requirements.
Can I just not seem to find them or does Asus not list the power...
Well you bring up an interesting point. hmmm.. I wasn't expecting that big of a bottleneck.
I might need to change my upgrade ideas here somewhat.
The thing is, is this computer needs a new video card for sure, (old 7600GT that was in it quit working)
and I do need to get some more use...
The 1 gig of ram is temporary I am going to upgrade the ram for sure but are you saying that a GTS250 or higher end card is going to perform exactly the same as a low end card in this system?
I am not saying your wrong but if you are correct about this I need to know because I agree, it would...
Well I imagine it would bottleneck somewhat but maybe not too bad. The computer does need a new video card for sure though because the old one quit working.
That's kind of why I wanted to know the best card for $100 and best for $50. I am still not sure what I want to put in it. Just looking...
Hi, thanks for the reply. Do you have a link for a GTS250 for around $100?
That seems like a really good price I just might have to get that.
Thanks again.
Best Nvidia PCI-E card for $100?
Best Nvidia PCI-E card for $50?
I need a new video card for my older computer. I am going to put a Nvidia in this one.
So im wondering. What is the very best Nvidia card for $100 or less? And $50 or less?
I am actually going to go ahead and get a...
I have another question about this im hoping you could help me with.
You mentioned that you should use 2 different cables from the power supply
and not split off the same 'artery'. what im wondering is, my power supply only has '2 arteries'
or cables with two 4 pin molex power connectors on...
That looks like a really good power supply but I have a budget of about $100 max before rebates for the power supply and video card.
Would a $40 power supply be skimping too much?
Im thinking maybe that 9600gso in hotdeals and thats about $60 shipped so that leaves $40 for the power supply...
I need a new video card and it seems my current power supply is insufficient for these cards.
So I need a new power supply with a 6 pin PCI-E connector that can run maybe atleast a 9600GT or 9600GSO.
Not sure yet what card i am going to get but i am leaning towards that 9600GSO that's in...
The CPU is a Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4 ghz and the computer has 1 gig of ram in it but I will probably upgrade it to 2 gigs soon.
Thanks for the information about the adapters.
That makes sense about the two different cables going into 1 6 pin pci-e cable.
This computer used to have a...
Thanks for the replies and information.
I have 1 more question about my power supply.
My power supply doesn't have a 6 pin pci-e connector but it seems that alot of cards come with the
adapter.
on newegg it says this on the specs of some of the cards:
An available 6 pin PCI-E power...
Hi. I was hoping I could get some help with getting a new video card for this computer.
Asus A8NVM mobo pci-e (not pci express 2.0)
400 watt power supply with 28A on 12+ rail (I think)
The power supply doesn't have a 6 pin pci-e power connector
So I want to get the very best card I...
I currently have a Seasonic, Is the Silverstones comparable in quality and reliability to the Seasonics?
Sorry I dont know too much about power supplies :)
Would prefer Modular but non-modular is ok too. I could probably spend $100-300.
The system specs for the computer that it is going in.
Asus P5B Deluxe
E6850
Western Digital 500GB
Western Digital 80GB
Crucial 2 GIG
Windows XP
Nothing overclocked
My biggest concern is my old games. I think the 9800GX2 probably works great with games like Crysis, etc new sli enabled games but what about old games from 2002-2006 etc? Strategy games and not well known games that weren't written for SLI?
There are alot of games I would need it to be...
I am thinking of buying this card but I am kind of worried about compatibility with games and driver problems. I own a older computer with a 7600GT(And a brand new computer that the 9800GX2 would go in) and in my main system I had a 8800GTX and a 7600GT. I used to have a 6800XT and a Geforce 4...
I need a power supply for a new 9800GX2.
Please recommend me a good one that is between 700-950 Watt and has a 8 Pin PCI-E cable for the GX2. (Would prefer a normal 8 pin over the 6+2 and dont want to use the 6 to 8 pin converter cable.
Right now I have a Seasonic 700 Watt and I really...
I am thinking of buying a 9800GX2 but one concern I have is if it supports all the older games from 2003-2007 etc. I play alot of older games as well as alot of the new ones.
Will the 9800GX2 be able to play these old games that dont support the card or will they just not owrk at all?
Olmer you make some good points but it doesn't explain why 60HZ and 60 FPS = pure smooth liquid gameplay. 60HZ and 59 FPS = lag, stutter, non-sync, low fps look.
Same with 100HZ, any resolution low or high, and settings and any refresh rate. I have tried them all.
My 8800GTX is probably...
I sure do appeciate everyones help here and hopefully we can get this resolved soon.
I pulled the 8800GTX and put my 7600GT in the computer and the 7600GT handles this situation very differently.
The 7600GT halves the framerate in this situation and the 8800GTX dont.
7600GT = cant...
I am going to try my 7600GT and see what happens.
Ya some version of a stress test program for video cards or is there some type of vsync sync test program?
One thing that might be related. I did recently upgrade the processor to the 6850. Just like a month ago and had to flash the BIOS to do it.
But I still think it's the GTX.
