HTPC/Gaming Rig

Think of it as a car engine, you can have a big 3liter that does 100mph@3000rpm. And you can get a 1.6litre that does 100mph@ 5400rpm. The latter will be using more revs and problably kore fuwl

Equivalent single card to 2x 5850s?

AMD, for as far as I can remember... Has always managed to overclock their way out of troubles :D. Generally AMD users can overclock past equivalent nVidea/Intel products.

Which cooling system should I use?

Considering the CPU is a 130w. I personally suggest water, it is more effecient and sometimes quieter, not to mention it looks a million times better, a H70 or H80 should do your job

Thank you Adam. I have completed the game and my grandfathers a mechanic, i help all of my friends on their bikes along with my dad on our car, at least im not the kind of person that thinks horsepower is how many horses ypu can fit in a car :D

Is $1000 a good deal for this DELL?

90% of time, you can match/beat OEM price by building the actual PC yourself, on top of that you have flexibility which lets you get the parts you want, the GT640 is low end, dont expect to run modern games on medium, maybe some but most on low - medium. for $1000 you could probably fit a i5 /...

The 690 makes me think it is a gaming computer so you would be better off with a i7 3770k in a Z77 with a GTX 670 SLi. As for cooling it depends vastly on what you want to do... No Overclock - 212+ Evo Mild Overclock - 212+ Evo or H60 Medium Overclock - H60 / H80 Big Overclock - H100i I hope...

The i5 isnt going to happen anytime soon - it is way over my starting budget. Listen to me here... I am currently running a Pentium D 925 which as you know is the definition of ancient, it will go under full load just from loading up chrome. I think that might be the reason I am looking for more...

Pentium D 925 @ 3752.5 for a split second?

Mine has happens loads of times under my watch and problably has been gping on for months, thing is the multiplier and fsb also change and they match the speed given

Will SSD work with this motherboard?

First, that cpu is last generation so consider a 3240 for better performance, second you may consider a 3570k instead of a i3
