    That's all you need to do...my 3000+ says 1GHZ instead of 1.8. If the temps are lower, for a better speed, why sweat it? BTW my temps drop around 5.

    Did you overclock? And perhaps you need more airflow and cable management in your case. 110C, you may want to RMA it as "defective".

    All of those parts would work, and would work with a 300W power supply, but that's a pretty weak upgrade to "play some of the latest games". It is faster than your current setup, but maybe you should consider sticking with your Athlon, and just upgrading the Video card to an AGP Radeon...
