My store (in Atlanta) has TONS of them. TONS of them...
Do you guys know how to take the hard drive out? In the manual it says we should unscrew two screws,
but actually there are no screws at the HD part. The HD in this model is Hitachi, and I heard that some other
brands like Toshiba and IBM are a lot more quiet than this one.
Tot, where do you disappear to? Could you teach us how to make the laptop upgrade automatically without paying more money, huh?
Since you're lying about your system, I suppose those 3D Mark of 900Z you provided are all crap.
Very funny. Two weeks ago you said your system is
=============================================================================================
model:900Z
CPU: 1500+XP
RAM: 256 (shared with graphic) = 192 and 224
Display: 15inch sxga
COST: $811
It also comes with DVD drive, floppy drive, 20gb...
Finally, I sold the free stuffs that came with XP Pro upgrade includes
XP Pro Upgrade ($80)
PC-133 256MB ($20)
PC-133 128MB ($10)
CDRW ($40)
Jewel case ($10)
Label maker ($7)
Wired (10/100) base station ($50)
notebook (10/100) adapter ($15)
USB (10/100) adapter...
Yes!!! After upgrading the driver, my 3D mark scores 1679, not just 1608.0 Mine is also 1.7GHz with 256MB RAM.
Currently my OS is XP Home edition only. I think it would be more than 1700 after upgrading to XP Pro. If you have
512 MB and set the video memory to 128 MB, the score would probably...
After upgrading to XP Professional edition, the 3D mark test with 32MB video memory is improved from 1491 to 1518.
Seems the XP professional has better performance than XP home.
Guys, I found a problem of ZE4000. Probably mine is just a special case. Now that many people have received their laptops, maybe you may do the test
also. It works pretty fine at "portable/laptop" mode, but when I changed the power setting to "Always on" to increase the performance, the laptop...
I found that if your display is SXGA+, the only mode to make the display clear is 1400x1050. If you change the setting
to 1280x1024 or lower, all the texts become blurred. The problem is the texts look quite small at 1400x1050 resolution.
FYI. Last time I tested the 3D mark and the score is 1545 with 64 MB video shared memory.
My friend's notebook is HP Pavilion xz355, which uses Radeon 7500c with 32MB dedicated memory, and the
score is 3840. So, if you want to play games with your notebook, the one with dedicated memory
would...
Poppagene: Do you knwo which one is the right UPC bar code to send to HP? There are so many bar codes
and I'm confused. By they way, I tried to make partitions by partition magic, but it shows the partition is not
resizable, so till now I still have only one partition. Have you successfully made...
I got it without shipping fee because I bought it in store, but for the people who placed the order
last week and paid the $75 shipping fee should be able to get the $75 back from the Staples. That's
for sure.
Like the problem of ZE4101, the HD of ZE4000 also has click sounds once in a while.
The method of changing the sound setting from "Windows default" to "no sound" doesn't work.
Currently I use battery power only, so I don't know if the click sounds problem is worse or better when
AC power is...
The major ICs of ZE4000 are
CPU: Intel Mobile Pentium 4 or Mobile celeron processor
Core Logic: ATI Radeon IGP 340M/ 1535+ chipset
Display controller: integrated in core logic
Audio/Modem controller: Conexant Smart AMC CX20468-21
CardBus controller: )2Micro 6912
Keyboard/embedded controller...
1507 is very impressive. I have no doubt about the performance of AMD.
What I don't like about 900z is its temperature and the lack of 1394 and Infrared in this mode.
I just ran the 3D Mark test using the Batter power.
The score is 1486 with 32MB video memory. The performance is almost the same with the score using the AC power.
Besides, when I use the battery instead of the AC power, the fan stopped running. Cool !!!!!
I think that's because the CPU is...
OK. Now I know SE means second edition. So that's the same with the one I used.
Tot. What is your CPU and memory size? That would make a difference, too.
I've run ZE4000 for 3.5 hours, and its surface is still very very cool :D
But the fan keeps runing very often. I hope I can manipulate the usage
frequency of the fan.
The score difference with 32 and 64 is not much, I think it's because my total memory size is too small.
I'll let you know after I got one 512MB to make a total of 768MB of memory size.
One more thing. I remember whe I fooled around in OfficeDepot, I can change the AGP from 2X to 4X.
But now it's set to 2X and I can't change it to 4X. I think the score would be higer if I can change the
AGP to 4X. Anybody knows know to do it?
The power setting was portable/laptop when I did the test.
Again, I used 3D Mark 2001, not 3D Mark 2001 SE. I don't know the difference between these two.
The 3D Mark of my ZE4000 with 1.7 GHz and 256MB
Video memory 32 MB: score 1491
Video memory 64 MB: score 1545
Video memory 128 MB: ?????????? Wait till I buy the memory.
For the people who care about the 3D Mark, I suggest the Compaq 2800 model. Its score is 4500,
a lot better than ZE4000 and 900Z. It's also a lot more expensive.
I think the options of the video memory size depend on the size of your total memory. Mine is 256MB only, so my options is only
up to 64MB. I am testing the 3D Mark 2001 right now. What is the difference between 3D Mark 2001 and 3D Mark 2001 SE?
Which one will give you higher score?
About the power management.
When I set the computer to portable/laptop, the CPU runs at 1.19 GHz (using AC power, not battery)
When I set the computer to "Home/Office" or "Always on", the CPU runs at 1.69 GHz.
So, you can change the performance of ZE4000 by changing the power management scheme.
