DX11 gone from Windows 7

isn't subsequent releases of an API supposed to improve upon implementation efficiency. If MS let Nvidia and other GPU expert groups write the implentention specs, this definitely wouldn't have happened. Too bad there's no equivalent to JEDEC for the GPU companies.

LCD monitor or 1080p TV for PC?

G92 is really an unfinished geforce 9?

Since Nvidia wants to follow Intel's refresh pattern, this cycle after a tech leap will produce only a smaller process and maybe 16 - 32 more SPs. But nothing else. It seems the G92 is already the 8800GTS of the D9x series.

Why are there never any MMO Video Card Reviews?

I have recently seen benches for NWN2, Oblivion, for the 8800GT, but older reviews I can't remember. NWN2 & Oblivion are excellent graphics-wise, older MMOs have a very similar graphics quality capability probably due to the scalability needed in an online world.

My $600 8800GTX and Quad core barely run Crysis!! WTF!!

I have yet to try Crysis with a setup similar to the OP's, but even older games (Heroes V) with all the eye candy turned on and at 1920x1080 grinds to a halt when I pan the camera around the map. I'd have to assume that developers are scrambling to keep up with the mult-core design on the GPU...

CRT making a weird ticking sound

My CRT years back would also making a noise similar to a tick but like a noise of a piece of plastic being let go of a forced position and stretching taught. Never had a real problem with it though. The symptoms you described are serious to warrant a new monitor.

the msi p35's early bios revisions have some faults in them even though I never encountered one with mine. Try going to MSI's site and doing live update - you'll get checksum error after reboot, but after that, my system is running ok with Steam.

How is this 8800GTS overclocked so high?

Have a GTX for a week and the fan is silent compared to the rest of the case which is half as loud as previous case and components. Better temps mean lower fan noise for HTPC ;>|>:>

Display Cropping from a 7800GS to a 8800GTX with HDTV

Difference between Quadro line and 3D gaming cards

Another forum thread asked the same thing. The reply was that the Quadro/FX workstation cards get a lot more software support via better drivers and/or other software in addition to the guarantees. That is what makes them more attractive to businesses.

Even 600 is quoted as puny. Reviewers of the Corsair say that high quality PSUs will handle stress that puts their real total capable power closer to what you see on the box, and if my computer under load needs more than 600w w/o overclocking then wow.

8800 GTS 320 slower than 8800 GTS 640

The 320 rarely beats it if by a single fps. But that does say a lot when you double memory. I'm not going to repost links unless I have to, but the 640 does have a 5% increase even when below 1920x1200. I have only seen about 8 or so benchmarks with them together. A lot of times they bunch...

If you drag a toolbar to a side of the screen on single view, it docks the toolbar to that side. Maybe if you drag it across monitors, you can dock it to a side on the 2nd monitor. I dunno.

Don't use the CD drivers. Get the latest to circumvent any bad key issues. You'll get the latest and greatest of your card anyway by going online.

Quouting "chizow" Agreed. AF causes no worse than 5% impact for most benchmarks. When people say the 2900XT trumps the 8800GTS 640, I agree except @1920x1200 w/ AA and above for most games save Call of Juarez. I am tempted just to get a 2900XT or GTS640, but the GTS's are a year old...
