  10. Raid 0 Recovery Help

Yes ,should work, but check the result under windows (winhex has compare option ). Sometimes, raid controllers limit logical size of disks with HPA command (ata standart). In this case , original drive will be a little bit "smaller" than recipient. Service data won't be transfered.

  13. Raid 0 Recovery Help

According to the description of your motherboard, raid0 was built by VIA southbridge, not with Windows LDM manager. Considering this, raid config was stored in special service area on the back of each drives, and this data was wiped or deleted somehow. In this case you have few options: Create...
  14. WD red drives vs. AV-GP drives?

According to the vendor this drive has difference in few things: Red drives more adapted for NAS storages (no sleep mode - during short inactivity), and it doesn't have static spindel rotation (like 5400 fro AV-GP) , rotating of platters can be manipulated by FW in real time for Red drives...

  19. Solid State vs Disc

Those one, probably, Vertex Pro drives, based on Indilinx (Barefoot) controllers.
  20. Solid State vs Disc

No, i don't. It is too early to discuss failure rate. But should be much better compare with older (SandForce ones) . Marvell MCU is ARM based core, used for Micron C400/500/Crucial drives.
  21. Formatting hard drive -- stupid question

Wipe 0 sector (Master Boot record) with any HEX editor ( i like winhex). After that, you'll be able to format the drive.
  22. Intermittent Issues are the worst.

The drive possible, has a bit of bad blocks. Test it with hddscan under windows. The second suggestion, is overheating or dirty contacts between pcb and preamplifier pad . .
  23. Solid State vs Disc

SandForce is the main culprit . MCU's sf-12xx and sf-22xx families are affected . Those tons of FW updates they have released, couldn't fix issue with read\write errors on nands . Long before, Sandforce claimed , their core could deal with cheap and bad quality nands . A lot of developers...

  32. Solid State vs Disc

OCZ was very depend on SandForce Firmware. CRC correction for old Vertex, Agility, Vectors was realy poor (ReedSolom) , and couldn't cover all the errors during reading nands. For the rest drives you mentioned, CRC correction BCH, which much more powerfull . And even this doesn't help much ...

OCZ Vertex2 is different. There is many recovery solutions to any other SSD drives, for example unsoldering and reading Nands dirrectly on programmer is the option.
