Remember the Athlon64 will have a built in memory controller so the FSB or speed between the controllers is not as much of an issue.
Furthermore, the athlon 64 uses Hyper Transport links between the CPU and other Component Bridges.
around 200 for a decent proccessor is my sweet spot and 300 is my max so i am happy.
I am personally really interested in the overclocking results 2.2Ghz at default is very nice indeed.
Wonder how high one will go on my Prommy ;)
My XP2200+ gets to 2.3Ghz with only 1.9v :)
Bet if I get a...
Yes all Nforce 2 board should be able to do 400ddr fsb. Some may require a bios update. I just hope that the rumors of a new Nforce stepping are true. The new steppping it supposed to go upto 500ddr.
Great job frosty, it seems to me it gets easier every time i unlock one. My last unlock only took 1/4 as much as i did for my 1600+ of course if was a 2200+ so only the l3 had to be done :)
Oh man looks like it is time to pop some panaflo's in my Koolance rig too.
Wow 33c on and Epox with an AXP2000+ that is sweet.
Just a few questions what are the load temps / water temps in Celcius and what is your thermal interfacing material?
Also where did you purchase them what type and...
Best of luck to you danny my AXP 1600 AGOIA runs great at 1666 (166X10) :) with only 1.775v (1.76v average) Watercooled 100% stable so far. I tried 1750 but a no go at any thing under 1.9v Yuck :(
Well any how nice OC and I bet you will be stable no problem at 1666 with water cooling.
Try the AROIA tried getting one no dice had to settle for a week 20 AGIOA W 1600+ @2100+ 1.95v.
Seems to say its hot as hell with my Epox 8k3a+ watercooled. Well i knew i would have to pelt sooner or later :)
Did some research on the Epox 8k3a+ on die thermositer readings pretty much everyone gets really hight temps with it. With the In socket thermositer i get 30-35 c now it's leveled off at 50 idle 60 load 1.75ghz 1.9 v. I will try to get some AS3 soon and try that. May have to Either go down to...
Hi all I just got a AGOIA Week 20 2002 with a W. I just wanted to let you know that this is my first succesull post at 1.75ghz 1.9v.
One problem according to the Epox boards on die thermositer it is at 60c with water cooling I already checked to see that my water block was properly installed...
Raid 0 Really is not really a form of raid at all. Does it improve disk performance yes. Is it worth possibly loosing 140GB of data (at least in my case) no. If your really want a preformace boost + data redundancy go with a 3 disk array as mentioned above.
Well my drive was running completly silent for over a year i believe it is due to the fact that it is failing. Ive probably had well over 500TB of data transferred on and off of it. Found out today i can RMA it and I will once i get my backup hdd.
Hell no the 1.6a and 1.7a proccesors OC about the same anyhow save yourself some cash. Albiet your warantee will be void if you do OC or so they say ;)
I rechecked my hdd's serno on WD online warantee service and it came up as having a warantee. I made a typo substituting a S for a 5.
Well that make's me feel better but I still need a new drive to backup onto. Preferably a good OC'er because im going to make my old WD's in to a reduntant NAS...
I myself will probably wait until barton to make the 130 nm athlon plunge the larger die size should make it better at dissapating heat. Well we can only hope.
I purchased the drive from Syntech computers in flushing NY USA. I hope it is not an export drive otherwise i will see if i can sue their asses off. :)
Yes i'm just evil enough to do it too. :D
I agree With Apoppin WinXP just didn't rub (couldn't use mp3's i ripped from my cd's on win 98) me the right way is still use win 98 for games and Win2000 for business stuff.
As for having to reboot win98 every 3 hours. Never had that problem with all the current patches installed. Well cannot...
Hi all,
Very recently (Today) My Western Digital 80BB wich is only a year old began making a very audible (louder than 5 case fans) humming sound - sounds. Am am very sure that it is about to DIE! Im going to Rma the sucker but I need to get an hdd to replace it in the mean time. I need your...
Swanny you are right in your ideas but not in your methods. True the T-bred does produce less heat but due to the smaller die size it has less of an area to dissipate its heat away from the core.
Ed from overclockers.com described it best.
As you see with barton's larger die size it will have...
I really would like barton to come out sooner rather than later. The small thermal dissapation area on the T-bred Irks the hell outta me.
Sure my water cooler could definitly handle it but unless the stepping improves i will not get a tbred. I will just buy a 76 dollor AXP AROIA.
As for your...
Unfortunately it is very unlikely that you can RMA it. If there is very little phsical damage IE big burn mark in the corner of your CPU die. Then maybe but the only way to find out is giving it a shot. Good Luck.
Hello all. I have a problem I need to buy a new HDD so i can get my FSB over 175mhz. Currently I have 2 WD 80bb's and they are not up to the task of running any higher than 175 for some reason yes even in PIO mode. I was wondering what type of hdd to get and also what types of hdd's others have...
According to my experience with my Epox 8K3A+ I am able to run my Athlon T-bird at 1.4 with a 166mhz FSB. But as for your mobo I'm really not sure give it a shot start low and work your Fsb slowly until you get it to a speed wich is still 100% stable but OC'd. The max for my MB with my sys...
Hi I recently got a Epox 8k3a Mobo. I was able to get the MB up to 175 completly stable with my 1.33 ghz Athlon T-bird.
But anything beyond 175 i get a windows protection error. I think the problem is my WD800BB. Has any one else had similar problems. If it is the hdd's what would be a good hdd...
Agreed the only way to get a good performance boost will be to OC the FSB. Right now i am waiting for a T-bred to replace my 1.33 T-bird @ 166 FSB. I will give 200 FSB a shot when i get a better Northbridge cooler for my Epox 8K3A. (It's in the mail.) Wish me luck i will try to post some benches...
I would have to say that your power supply is the most likely problem. If you had no crashes at 1.15 ghz it is because your processor is using less power to run than it needs at its rated clock speed. I would recommend going to the AMD web site and see if your power meets amd's power supply...
<< I have a D-Link 804 and it's lame. Gaming is fine but it slows down browsing. I just use a switch for local gaming and I don't even use the router anymore because it's so slow. Don't get an 804. >>
I used to have this same problem with my DI-804. Updated to a new Firm-ware version and it...
<< Probably because they are using micro-bga chips... If i'm not mistaken, they should run cooler. >>
Yep I have read that somewhere as well though i cannot recall where. ;)
