I know it's kind of gauche to reply to my own thread, but I want to make sure about some things before I blow the cash:
This router (Netgear WNDR3700-100NAS)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833122326
should get along perfectly with this ranger extender (Netgear WN2000RPT)...
That's what I suspected. Can anyone recommend a Netgear bridge to pair with the Netgear WNDR3700-100NAS? Looking at the specs on their own website, I'm not finding what I think I need to be finding.....
I was dead set on the NETGEAR WNDR3700-100NAS for my new router:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833122326
But I also need a wireless bridge (if that's the right term) to go along with it.
I need at least 3 ethernet "outs" to feed my XBox360, PS3, and DirecTV receiver.
There...
What really has me baffled is that everything is fine once I'm in Windows. It's just getting there that's an issue. I'm using the following settings on my ASRock X58 Extreme:
EZ OC Setting at 3.6Ghz (this makes the following changes)
BCLK 180 MHz
PCIE 100 MHz
DRAM 540 MHz (this makes DDR3...
Using the exact parts I described above, I'm having some boot issues, just like Markfw900 seemed to think I would. I can cold boot just fine, usually. But when overclocked to 3.6Ghz I have to try several times to get the system up and running. System POSTS but won't even try to load Windows...
Thanks for the input. I'll take that under consideration. I'm using an Antec PSU, btw. It's a few years old. So if I have trouble POST-ing I'll have to consider a new PSU I guess.
I know this thread is kinda old but since I'm after info that I know MUST have been posted on here somewhere before, I didn't want to gum up the works further by starting yet another thread.
Anyway I'm building a system very close to what the original poster sounds like he's ended up with...
To be honest....nah, not really. I think the most sensible thing to do would be to
wait for the Core i7 and its related periphery (new mobo and DDR3 memory) become
more affordable. The more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to wait it out.
Because your argument is quite valid. I...
I don't mean to derail this thread, but I'm in a similar situation as the thread starter.
Except I'm currently running a C2D E6600@3Ghz. Rock solid with stock air cooling.
I'm trying to figure out if I should bump up to a Q6600 or a GTX260 graphics card.
here's my current setup:
CPU...
The only gaming I'm doing right now is Oblivion, Crysis, and BioShock. I do a lot of sound and photo editing on this machine too though.
::edit::
Forgot to mention that I use Ableton for the audio editing and Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom for the photo work. I currently only run these apps...
Actually, looking at processor prices, would it make more sense to go with a Q6600 for $220, or the E8400 for $190?
I guess I'm asking which would give me the bigger performance boost once I get the SLi running; a higher clock speed or
more cores?
Thanks for the quick replies! I appreciate the info very much!
And I will probably be upgrading to an E8400 shortly as well.
I kind of suspected that my old E6600 would become a bottleneck.
I'm sure this has been covered before, but I've been searching and reading posts for the past half hour and haven't found anything that address this exact issue. So before I blow any cash, I figure it couldn't hurt to ask.
I have a Leadtek 640MB 8800GTS. Here's the product URL from newegg...
EDIT: One of the things I should've mentioned in my first post was that, if I
do go for aluminum, it's *got* to have a door on the front. The contrast between
the gleaming aluminum and the dull beige of my drives would drive me bonkers, and
I'm not crafty enough to pull off the stealthing...
Hate to jump someone else's thread....but there's already lots of "I need a case" threads,
so I figure instead of making yet another one, I'll just piggy-back this 'un.
Basically, I'm looking for the same thing as the original poster, except I'd
*really* like an aluminum case. I've been reading...
