just an update.. I cracked the thing open last night just to visually inspect all the wiring and what not... all wires are hotglued to their corresponding connectors and everything feels tight (no loose wires), nothing visually evident of a problem. Fuse looks fine as well, but I'm going to try...

If i plug my headphones into the volume controller (that controls the z5300) it works fine and i can adjust the volume with it as well. So that piece seems to be working fine.

Odd Freezing in Call of Duty

Overclocking 6800gt?

I'd find your memories max, then your GPU's. That way you know which is holding you back, whereas if you do both at the same time you won't know which is holding you back without extra testing.

POLL! what is the better all around video card

actually that's not true. ATi has only made better cards when the 9700's came out and held the crown throughout the 9800XT. NV had thier flop with the FX line, but other than that they were the top dog (not counting early 3dfx days).

Best laptop for $700 or less?

They are going to use it for general usage type stuff.. internet, mail, homework, etc.. Brand isn't really a big deal.. toshiba, hp/compaq, etc, doesn't matter. Requirements would be, wireless NIC, RJ-45 NIC 256MB RAM, Combo optical drive.. That's about all I can think of that's required...

wow.. really? Thank you for that info.. I will invest in a new power supply ASAP!! Man.. I'm glad it hasn't fried my 9800 or BH-5 RAM!! Any suggestions for a PSU that costs around 50-60 bucks and has more than 18A on the 12v rail? 18A on 12v is the min output you want for an AMD overclocking...

yeah, good idea.. It'd be nice to get stick something on the SB that wouldn't be as permanent as an adhesive, just in case a future upgrade causes problems with room and not being able to fit. I've got a couple passive heatsinks laying around off of old pentium II's, but I'd have to cut down...

L12 mod? I think I may need to do this, because when I bring the multiplier back up on my cpu to get it back to ~2200Mhz (220x10), i get some P95 errors pretty early in the torture test, yet i can run memtest86 all night with no errors at the same speed. Plus I know the CPU can run 2200Mhz...

Well, ordered my 2400+ 35w from newegg.. Not selling my RAM anymore cause after a BIOS update I was able to obtain better results (currently @ 220MHz 2-3-3-11 stable). CPU is for sale though and I'll be putting that up in the FS/T forum if anyone here is interested.
