Very interesting. But Airbnb actually has monthly rates for people who book for 30 days + on select properties that offer it as an option.
Example: here I set the booking duration for 2 months and the prices come up as monthly. Boston · Stays · Airbnb
So I'm living at this Airbnb for 4 months and the WIFI here is quite slow at 10mbps. I often work from home and need to download large files and this is a hindrance. A few ways I can think of to speed it up.
1. Each WIFI connection is capped at 10mbps. I have two WIFI adapters, can I aggregate...
So I'm writing a class that contains a couple of methods that need to be run in succession. Some of the earlier methods are computationally expensive and can take 5+ minutes to run.
If I want to test code in the later methods, I need to re-instantiate the object with the modified code, then...
Thank you. Perhaps I can try running memtest and prime95 to be sure.
Are there any GPU torture tests as well? This just never really happened while I was in the office.
It is indeed a custom built PC. It's an office workstation but I've installed a few games on it to briefly demo the graphics.
While using Remote Desktop, it'll suddenly disconnect. Upon trying to reconnect, it'll make it until the Securing Remote Connection step and get stuck there for a few minutes and time out. I also have TeamViewer installed and the computer drops from the online computers list when this happens...
Here's a video
In the entire video, I'm constantly moving the cursor in a small circle. You could see that it straight up freezes for several seconds at certain points. When I drag a window at the 24s mark, there's no stuttering at all.
Not sure where to ask this, but often my mouse gets visually laggy. I know it's just visual because I can drag a window around and it'll be as smooth as silk. But just moving the mouse cursor would have it stutter sporadically. When I reboot, the cursor is fine again. I'm using a Samsung 55" 4K...
I just tried hooking the PC up to the fiber router and forwarded the ports there and everything is working. I can access the FTP and the RDP.
I will need to do some additional configuration to change the fiber router to a passive switch. Thanks for the resource to Jack's blog.
My Ip6 isn't on. I just tried manually setting up a static IP with the default gateway listed on the router LAN configuration (192.168.1.1)
I couldn't get internet access.
How do I set it up manually and still get internet access?
Good guess on the FTP share, but it's off.
I don't know why either isn't working either. I can connect to the ftp through localhost. I can connect to remote desktop through the LAN. So both services are up and running. It's just not being routed through the port forwarding.
I'm using the Asus RT-AC1300UHP. My server is runing Windows 7. I have a FTP server set up and remote desktop.
I set up port forwarding on the router for 21 and 3389. I disabled windows firewall. I have my FTP server (filezilla) listening. My remote desktop is also enabled.
This portscanner says...
Looking to set up a 50-100TB system with a high priority on reliability.
Thinking about having two separate NAS units in separate parts of the room that will automatically sync to each other. Are there any NAS with software that can automatically accomplish this?
They're used to store a large...
I'm not a fan of wireless headphones. A good pair of audiophile wired stereo headphones that's designed for accurate soundstage and spatial imaging would beat any of the purpose built gaming/multimedia headsets. To get Dolby Atmos, you'll need to get a receiver that can decode it. For games...
Atmos and other multispeaker surround setups are ideal to sound amazing for a wide area of the room. This is made to sound good for multiple listeners that require a large listening sweet spot. For personal listening, nothing beats the imaging and soundstage of a good pair of headphones or...
Public financing is a very widespread policy in European countries to combat cronyism. This might take the form of a fixed amount of money given to a candidate after they reach a certain amount of popularity. Or each citizen has a budget of $X to contribute to a candidate.
He's old, but Biden is as old and he's the frontrunner. Bernie Sanders is still as sharp and energetic as he's ever been. He's much younger mentally than the incoherent rambler sitting in the White House.
In the 2016 Primary election, Bernie’s Achille's heel was from African American and Latino...
TeamViewer detected that I was using their software for commercial purposes. Actually, I heard that almost everyone has been getting that message with TeamViewer as if they're trying to get people to pay for it.
FWIW, I'm working at an academic research lab and I have my own personal machine...
Ugh Chrome remote desktop is having me open up ports.

I get a lot of brain fog related to my carb intake as well.
I'm not sure if it's just hypoglycemia or it can be due to inflammation caused by certain carbs.
This lecture talks about how fructose is metabolized as a toxin by the liver and thus triggers inflammatory pathways.
Furthermore, I had...
I need to access my work's computer that's connected to the corporate wifi. There's no way for me to forward ports. Teamviewer has been working great for a few weeks until it detected that I'm using it for work purposes and it's since restricted my access. Are there any other alternatives? The...
Meh, this needs the original video with the sound. I've just seen too many gifs where they speed things up to make it look more impressive.
Might be the super wide angle that makes everything look more dramatic than I'm used to.
Here's another great super-twitchy onboard video.
Richard Burns...
Great answer. One of the greatest pleasures in life is to work towards your goals and be a part of something bigger than yourself. But at the same time, have fun doing it and enjoy the journey towards it.
Hey could you let me know more about the AMD compatibilities? I'm also in the simulation field and want to be aware of any issues with AMD since their threadripper CPUs are so attractive for their parallel computing cost/dollar.
