how to remove searchv program from my computer

I had to run a program called Hijackthis and check off not only winshow but another program called msupdate as windows kept reloading winshow at every startup. You may also want to run spyware blaster, adaware and spybot (I run all three and they are all free). All programs detected winshow and...

How long does an ATI RMA take?

They finally refunded my cash, but only after how many months, so I suggest you call tech support as they seem more willing or able to help, as opposed to hesdoffice.

How long does an ATI RMA take?

They will investigate up to 60 days from when payment was made. I tried that and I will try calling ATI's head office one more time and then I think I will take them to small claims court as we are in the same city. I actually recieved a call back on the first month it occured as they did credit...

How long does an ATI RMA take?

They replaced my card in 4 days, but it's been 3 months and they still havn't credited my deposit to my credit card, even after calling head office. I believe that is the the most pathetic customer service I have ever seen not to mention the fact that I pay the interest on the amount and as of...

"Is VIDEO OUT worth it for watching DVD movies...?"

If you plan on watching DVD movies on the T.V grab a Hollywood+ decoder and don't hook up the passthrough cable to the video card. I used my hollywood before getting the stand alone DVD player and it worked great for T.V out. You can also use software decoders when you want to view the DVD on...

    Sony G400 v.s. Samsung 900nf ?

I use a E400 at home and the Samsung 900NF at work, assuming the G400 is the same picture quality as the E series (I believe it has higher refresh and 2 inputs), then I like the sony picture better. My brother-in-law on the other hand likes the Samsung, he thinks the picture is "brighter", I...

    help identifying this Radeon

It looks and is described as a classic 64 DDR, same as the 7500 but slower clock speed. I believe the 7200 uses SDR and I also notice from the picture that it does not have the theater chip so no Tv. out. It is probably clocked at 164, 183 or if you get lucky and it is a newer chip you may get...

Should I use a shim or thermal compound?

Actually the shim for XP and standard Athlons are the same thickness, what is diffferent between the two is the thickness of the packaging (ceramic one is thicker), the other difference is the cutouts for the the bridges. If you use a non conductive shim there will be no problem, if it's...

    how is globalwin's CAK38??

2 80mm sunon in front, 1 sunon (80mm) rear and other (unknown) 80mm asa well as power supply fan and a radio shack squirrel cage fan. Also some smaller fans on vid, northbridge and sound card.

    how is globalwin's CAK38??

I'm using it with a thermaltake fan (same as the one on your VolcanoII), the stock delta is way too loud. Nice solid copper heatsink though, also quite heavy and I wasn't impressed with the clip, you may want to consider a shim with this one. I'm at 51-53 while gaming and the room has no air...

    A quieter fan

I had the same problem with the CAK38, I didn't expect the hairdryer effect either. I tried "corking" the entire inside of the case. This deadened the effect, but I thought it was still loud (I also run 6 80mm case fans for cooling). I even corked the inside of the front cover to...

I think I just broke my tbird :(

Your powersupply is listed under aopen, I believe. It's the same as mine so that shouldn't be a problem. Why not try a Sunon 40mm fan or the Thermaltake 40mm, they are both supposed to be reasonable in terms of noise levels. oops, I mean 60mm, not 40!
  16. L

I think I just broke my tbird :(

Yes it's safe on everything. I'm using the CAK 38 with a delta hairdryer attached and yes it's extemely loud. I would also check your power supply to see if it's on the AMD list for your processor, as that seems to be a major problem for the higher speed AMD processors. OH, Happy 4th of July...

I think I just broke my tbird :(

Yes the heatsink is reuseable, but are you sure your crashes are due to the chip on the cpu, or from something else? I'm running a 1.2 with a tiny chip on the corner and it runs fine at 1.4. If it boots into windows and runs, even with a crack, I would suspect another cause for the crashes, such...

Need help about tbird 1.2 please!!!!

Yes you can run a 1.2 AXIA and it can be a 266 FSB version, I run the same combo. The 12.5X multiplier is in fact a 13X multiplier so it should boot up at 1300.

    Conductive Pen in Toronto?

You can get the loctite window defog repair kit at Canadian Tire, but if you must have the pen, you can get it at Active Electronics (they are in the phone book - not to be confussed with active surplus on Queen street). I believe they are on Victoria Park just below Steeles.

Can Someone tell me whats a PCI Mass Storage Controller?

Your friend needs the promise controller drivers from the Asus website. The 4 in 1 drivers need to also be loaded, but they are not for the promise controller, they are for the VIA controller chip (AGP and other functions).

Yea I think it may be a video card problem too, but I don't have the time or spare video card to play around with it and it's the office computer so I shouldn't even be overclocking it, since it is used for work. I'm running an ES Radeon as well on an A7V and mine didn't have any problem. I'm not sure what "arm" the other post is referring to, but if it's the AGP Pro plug, I would be somewhat worried about removing that. Is the piece that sticks out part of the board or just something like...

I'm assuming you tried to power it up 2 times in a row, as it's been my understanding that the first time you power up the system, it will only power up for a second and requires you to power it up a second time. That's been my experience with AMD systems that I have installed and your symptoms...

Which is "worth the money" for TV-out/Some gaming

If all you will be using it for is DVD's, you might as well rent the video as the quality on the tv from any of the solutions you mentioned will be better from a video tape. The FOP32-1 is a good HS, but how can I exchange this noisy fan?

The rubber feet I use are from a cd rack I bought, they keep it from sliding on a slippery surface. When I first installed the FOP, it was very annoying as it would hit a certain resonnance that got very irritating, I could stop the noise by manipulating the fan (moving it slightly), but it...

The FOP32-1 is a good HS, but how can I exchange this noisy fan?

Actually the fan is quiet, but it rattles because of the loose retention mechanism for the fan. I added rubber feet at the 4 corners of the fan and it no longer rattles.
