This is quite simple. If I were strictly a music/gaming nut and had alot of extra money to spare, I'd go for the klipsch. However, if you watch movies, and want "true digital 5.1" audio like as if you're in a movie theater, then go for the Logitechs, they have a hardware DD decoder...

My first Asus & AMD RMAs

Well I was just approved for an Asus motherboard RMA, and I'm also curious on how they do it... they tell me not to send any assessories back with my board... cuz I wont get them back. Well, if thats the case does that mean all they send me back is a bare motherboard... how will I know if it is...

Windows wont install...

I troubleshooted every componant.. HDDs are fine, everything is fine... except the motherboard, its damaged, I guess having a cpu running at 62c for hours on end damaged it.. It's going to get RMAed, thanks for all the help guys. Anyone know how long on average Asus RMA takes?

Windows wont install...

Ok, I ran seagates diagnostics tests and the physical drives all passed, but every single partition failed the File Structure Test for both the SATA drive and my IDE drive. Hmm, so does it look like I'm going to have to clean wipe these harddrives and format them or what?

What is a good way of testing the hard drive? I mean I tried two different hard drives, one WD120 7200RPM IDE, and 1 Seagate 160GB SATA 7200rpm, recommend a good bootup HDD diagnostic tool test? Yeah I've tried different dvdroms, and cds... so I'm not sure at all... *trying seagates and...

I'm thinking it is a hardware issue... I doubt its the CPU, its not the memory... I may have to RMA this board... what are the chances of a board getting damaged from a cpu overheat lockup?

Well, I did clean out my HSF of dust, I have the thermalright slk900(a) with a good 90mm fan, and the temperatures are running at about 45c right now, so I will try underclocking, but I doubt the results will be any different. As far as having damage to hardware... hmm I'm really not sure...

Is it possible for a virus on a single hdd with two partitions to spread from the 2nd partition to the first and prevent an install of windows XP? With "can't read from CD" errors or just lockups during file copy process etc... I freshly formatted my first partition and tried to install the...

2x512mb PC3200 Mushkin memory help please

I just got done trying to reformat with only 1 stick of the Mushkin ram, AND both of my IDE hard drives unplugged(no power going to them). And yet again just after formatting, I went for the windows update and I bluescreened with an error along the lines of "win3k.sys" causing it or something...

After yet another bluescreen, I couldn't get into the o/s at all so I tried my other PSU (400W Allied) and I still couldn't get into the o/s I kept getting bluescreens etc. Sigh... I'm going to have to format it looks like to even get anywhere, I think I'll try that after I put my 420W...

Sweet Spot for DOOM 3

I've been running the game for erm.. 2 days, it runs Single player 1024x768 medium settings pretty much solidly. However... in multiplayer FPS/smoothness really depends alot on your ping/server but it didn't run well at all, infact I had to use 640x480 low settings with all effects off for it...

Best Buy 25 TDK 4x DVD+R for $25 after IR

PMed to Staples, got a Black bottum, the disks were smooth/clear on top, also with a foam washer on top of the spindle, they were CMC mags, took them back. I bought the same dvd+r 25pak from staples 2 months ago, except the disks had Frosted tops, they were Ricoh's.

fixed the problem, tnx :) *edit* readding the info that was resolved for me :) - CD/DVD burning/reading was lagging my comp alot. Solution = PIO mode was enabled for the device, I had to enable ultra DMA be uninstalling/reinstalling secondary IDE channel.
