Deciding on SLI

Sounds good, guys. I agree - by the time I spend the money, a single 8800GTS or even an 8600GTS would destroy a 7600GT SLI. Time to build another system? hrm... :)

P180 - Drive tray problem!

But seriously folks :) My brother passed on a P180 to me, which was amazing; however, it's missing the main HDD trays. Well, I have seen Antec's website, and as inexpensive as the trays are ($4.95), the $8 shipping makes me want to cry. The one question I have is - will the P150 trays work...

SOLVED IT! So, you're all right - reset the forceware drivers, switched back to the lame nvidia control panel (the new one) and messed around with overlay in that. It's all good.

Thunderbird is continually not pulling all of my messages from gmail.. it seems to only pull messages from 2006, but no later :( Anyone have similar experiences? Any help?

there's a difference between someone recommending $100 spent on cables for pure margin profits and someone recommending $100 on the power-supply in your new computer. If cables break, you buy new cables. If your PSU blows, you buy new lots of things.

Okay - asked this question a week ago, but I'm back. Clean install two weeks ago. Fresh OS install, fully updated with drivers, etc. Video files (excluding flash) are completely dark. I tried going to the video overlay, and yes - I can up the brightness, but it washes out the colors...

Decoding a CMOS String

Friend is asking me a question about decoding a CMOS string. This is the string he's presenting me: 03/26/2001-694X-596B-W97-6A6LJF09C-00 Aside from the date at the front, I am totally lost! I am assuming that the northbridge is the second to last, that the W97 is the audio codec (ac97?)...

boot disk error

okay...still having the problem. now I'm trying to use a WD 160GB drive...but my first attempt at a fresh reload was unsuccessful, and said that there was a drive read error... any thoughts?

I'll definitely check that out - I might just need to repair...I highly doubt the HDD is bad, but if it is, I guess I"ll have to take Seagate up on their 5-year warrantee :(

Hard Drive - SATA 3.0GB vs. ATA 100

Yes, you should be able to boot using PATA fine. SATA offers speed increases that range from slight to significant, depending on the drive that you purchase. I have been using a WDigital 16MB cache drive, and have found it to be significantly faster than my old PATA drive. THat being said...

Cleared the CMOS...no luck! The problem is, before I re-installed Windows, the drivers were working fine. I will fiddle a little around in the BIOS, but damn - what's going on?
