    P4 1.6a overclocking

I dunno about the 1.6a's although I've heard a lot of ppl that have been able to get them up to 2.2+. My experience is limited to the 400mhz fsb 1.5ghz Williamette core that I was using temporarily in my mobo till i got a new processor. With NO difficulty, I set the fsb to 133 and it booted...

    Nice P4 HSF shootout

Seriously, the Alpha PAL8942 is hands down the best air cooling heatsink i've ever used. In combination with AS3 and a YS tech 80mm variable, i've been able to drop cpu temps from (idle/load) 42C/59C to an incredible 32C/45C overclocked to 2.88ghz! It's a bit on the pricey side, but i don't...

    GA-8INXP 2.4B@163FSB (stuck, help!)

looks like we're running a similar situation, cept the mobo.. I don't think more voltage is going to help. I already juiced it up to 1.70 (actual, gigabyte overvolts by .05) and I gained the ability to boot into windows and screw around, but sooner or later it locks up. And i gained NO...

Now I've seen everything - a logcabin computer case.

That's nothing. My boss complained about me having a second computer at work and told me I had to give it away. (I work in IT) So, I disassembled it. Sawed out some packing foam, and proceeded to rebuild the computer in my drawer, disk drives and all. The cables ran out the back of the drawer...

Chieftec Cases: where'd you get it??

here Hmm, I think the cheaper ones u guys are talking about are steel right? The case I got was aluminum and came with 4 clear fans and a 420w power supply. Either way I paid a lot more than $35!

dude, if you're aching for 2x512 just get samsung pc2700 for that price read this review trust me, unless you're planning on going over 191 fsb you're not going to be missing that overpriced stuff. If you're doing video editing, more ram will equal more speed than faster ram. 1 stick of 512mb...

    Looking for a specific case

I just went to my supplier today and he showed me an aluminum case with a drive door that is hydraulically actuated! You hit a button on the top of the case and the door slowly slides down and exposes the drives. Might be just what you need.

How much weight can you put on a case??

This is what I'm using on my old rig. I swear it is the sturdiest case known to man. I have been using it as a foot rest, lamp stand... currently my shuttle is residing on top of it. I have stood on it to reach things on a shelf. Of course it weighs a friggin ton. But you just can't beat that...

***Official***BARTON watch thread - Official Launch AND REVIEWS

I bet your right, but various sources across the states have also gotten their hands on a few bartons and the evidence has so far been corroborated. The extra cache just didn't make all that much of a difference between the barton and the thoroughbred at similar clockspeeds, and I'd be surprised...

What do you think is holding back my OC?

I'd have to say it's your power supply, barring an unlucky selection of cpu. You've got 5 drives in there 2 cd roms and 3 hard drives, 2 pci devices one of them being a rather large sound card, and a huge assortment of case fans. That poor 350w enermax is probably hating life right now. With...

    DDR Ram Help!

With samsung pc2700 hovering around 45-50 dollars per 256 mb stick, I wouldn't bother with the expensive name brands. It's been proven on various sites that heatspreaders sometimes do more harm than good, and mostly just look pretty. At any rate, most of the name brands like Corsair and OCZ...

My system thinks it has 2 processors!?

I already have WCPUID, everything looks peachy. The darndest thing is when I log on as another user, it goes back to thinking that I have 1 processor. Wierd. I'm thinking that the hyperthreading implementation in this board is acting funny... Maybe this is one of the '6 Dual Miracles" :D

My system thinks it has 2 processors!?

Wierd, I run 3dmark 2001 and under system information it gives me: Processors: 2 x Intel Pentium® 4 @ 1.99 GHz Then I run SiSoft Sandra and it tells me my motherboard supports 2 cpu's and all the reference benchmarks that pop up are for multi-processor systems. Yet it says that hyperthreading...

GA-8INXP FINALLY came! Now need everything else..

How ironic, as I was typing out the header to that message, the ti4200 8x I have in it locked up according to winxp. Looks like there may be AGP 8x issues or something. I disabled EZtune because I plain don't trust it. When I opened it up it wanted to run my agp/pci at 88/44!!! eek. Rebooted...

GA-8INXP FINALLY came! Now need everything else..

Well it finally got here, since I work for a distributor, I managed to get 2 pieces from gigabyte at cost. 200GB 7200rpm 8Mb cache ide HD $200 after 65$ rebate, MicroCenter

I tried the PNY DDR deal at that BB store the manager told me the exact same thing. The way I see it, cost isn't even a local store manager's concern. What really pisses me off is that they seem to change the store policy to fit their needs when it's convenient. He was so snide about it too, he...
