possible HDD access problem

k, so i got a 500g HDD. was working great since i got it. but now recently, i think i'm having issues with it. i can open winamp and play music and when i try to open a video file from my 500g HD, the music being played becomes srsly distorted. it will play fine for a second or two but...

Unwanted Quick Format

ya, goofed and did a quick format on a HDD that i didn't want too. i haven't written anything new to that drive yet. anybody know of a good program to help recover the data (mainly my music collection). brandon

computer won't post

ya, i tried a different power supply, no change. changed out the video card, no change. pulled the ram out and booted it up, still aboslutly nothing. brandon EDIT: oh, also tried resetting the bios, no change.

kk, so was watching a movie on my computer. had to go to class so i left the movie player on pause and left. come back and the computer if froozen (won't come out of the screen saver). reset and computer won't start. computer won't even post. i get absolutly no output. Hard drive spins...

as for replacement... good luck. if i remember what an eMachine looks like, they're fairly small. finding a mobo will be difficult, and i'd guess its not a standard size. brandon

Computer not turning on

Is Logitech's SetPoint software universal?

Yes. my mx700 is rather old, and it has developed a problem where it will drift to the right when the mouse is motionless (not even touched). tried the new setpoint for mx1000 mice, and corrected the problem. new setpoint will work with mx700. :-) brandon

Gaming mouse

shessh. ya, wireless has MASSIVE lag man, i can barely move my cursor 'round. once your willing to pay more then 20-30 bux on a mouse, they are all the same. when you start getting into dpi and refresh rates, your getting into therotical and technical aspects. in real life applicications...

small headphone amp?

you could be right. to save battery live, they don't power the headphone jack as much as they should have and leave a soft/weak signal making it hard to hear. <shrug> would be equivelent of nitendo not backlighting to save power. :-). for portable amps, hit up audiophile forums...

wireless speakers ???

um..... you realize speakers are not wireless? there is no such thing. the speakers need decent amout of power and power can not be transfered thru the air. if you wanted a sound system, i'd suggest www.hometheaterforum.com. very knowledgable people and very friendly. brandon

Best Earbuds?

i just picked up a pair of Sony MDR-J11G. i love the fit of them. sound quality is good as i can tell. i dislike buds, and these just sorta stick in your ear and don't touch the ear, the clip supports them. simply put, very very very comfortable for me. brandon

LMFAO! i love people who say wireless performance is horrible and/or a joke. there is absolutly no loss of performance between quality wireless and a wired mouse. i've used both the touted "best gaming mouse" mx510 and the mx700. i prefer the mx700. performance wise? no difference...

Why are corded mice thought to be better for gaming?

i like the extra weight. for gaming, the mx1000 can be good or bad. it all depends on your mouse usage/habits. when playing an FPS, do you use low to very low sensitivity? do you have to pick up the mouse and set it back down to continue a turn? if you do, stay away from the mx1000...

Question to audiophiles

if you got a newer card (nforce2 board or newer), onboard sound is good. you shouldn't need to worry about a better sound card. not sure what c-media is. i'd say get the better speakers and see how it sounds. if you don't like the sound, get the card next. brandon

MX1000 vs MX700

replace the akline batteries with lithium ion batteries. that will make a noticable difference in weight and is the only reason the mx1000 is lighter (try holding 4 akline bat's and then 4 lithium bats, you notice the weight differnce real quick). might get expensive since i don't believe...

Question on SATA

Sata controllers are numbered. you'll have Sata 1 and a Sata 2. 1 would be considered the master. for bootup, i'm fairly certian Sata drives are checked first for an OS. for my bootup, i just have HDD 0 selected and i boot from my sata drive (but i do not have any IDE HHD, only opticals...)...
