XP - Start Menu?

yup, im another fan of the new double panel start-menu. got everything on the gui to look like 2k but i kept the xp menu, dunno why, i just like it, though i do use an extensive quick launch bar also, .... guess as a stoner i like as many shortcuts i can have so i can find the durn things

little XP annoyance

theres an option somewhere (i got it from regedit) to switch on/off, verbose shut down. basically reports on exactly whats happening at every point of shutdown.

I have $100 what should I be looking for?

my first thought is to ask what card you have now.... i tend to agree $100 aint gonna buy you much with any form of "future proofing" (though i find my ti4200 128mb great for all current games. is an upgrade really necessary? or can you deliver a few more pizzas/pump some more gas/write a new...

My HDD light won't stop blinking - and games won't stop hanging - how the heck can I diagnose this prob???

Got any services running in the background you may have forgotten about? Web/ftp server perhaps? even a bittorrent or kazaa style p2p client running in minimised and in startup mode?

XP pro installation not copying files... stops at 94%-97%

I had a similar ptoblem too. turned out to be a single dodgy IDE cable..... would prevent install at 8-90% everytime.

Windows Server 2003 or XP on new system

I havent tried 2k Server on a home machine yet, but had lots of probs running high end games on 2k Advanced Server. My solution (im also a web developer) is to run XP and then use apache web server.. It is much easier to config IMO and far more robust being isolated from the OS itself. As my...

Just finished putting comp together, NEED HELP

A similar thing happened to me when i built my first PC back in the heady days of 33mhz processors........... After much hassling of the shop i purchased the mobo from, they agreed to look at my set-up. Imagine my embarassment when i realised what the plastic insulators under the motherboard...

Small computer problem

the red switch is for voltage selection..... different countries have different power systems - this could well chav up your machine.... as to whats up with your computer, buggered if i know.. i just like replying to forums :P

Geforce4 - MMX440 128mb vs ti4200 64mb

Im finally getting around to buying a flashy new pc only problem is the lame mmx440 graphics card (128mb). Im trying to work out whether it would be better to swap this for my existing ti4200 (64mb) or whther the extra memory on the mx card is worth keeping the inferior technology...
