So I bought a flash drive in China...

I fell for this scam too... I e-mailed the eBay seller and he (luckly) refunded my money. However, in the meantime, I found out that "they" use a (kinda) ghost program that formats the drive, but reports to Windows Explorer almost any capacity you want. I believe you can find the program...

Turning off write protection of USB based readers?

Forgot to mention, I tried all the other tricks - tape over the lock switch, going into DOS... none of that worked. Got the other card reader and it started working...

Where is the 2TB boot limit located?

This past year we installed a HP MSA (a shell to install multiple drives in). It is fiber connected and has 15 (300 GB) drives. Which in RAID 5 territory comes out to be over 3 GB of storage. Unforunately, we couldn't get a single 3 GB of hard drive space because of the limitation you speak...

Anyone use a toshiba tablet laptop?

Windows Explorer won't auto load on flash drive

Double-click on "My Computer", right-click on the device in question, choose Properties, and go to the AutoPlay tab. The Options that joshharrington mentioned are right there.

Unable to get to Network Identification Wizard or change domain name in Windows XP

Just a few thoughts: Are these computers on a domain? Are they connected to the LAN? Valid IP address? Sounds like you have some policies going on.... hiding some of these options. Either that, or you're running XP Home (instead of Pro). Reply back...

Partition Magic should start up automatically. The "45 CRC error" is probably not good news. If you can, click on the "fix" button, good luck, sounds like you've got a more serious problem.

The solution is very easy (for a majority of the cases). "Begin cut and paste" (from an earlier e-mail): For the original poster, he didn't have a floppy drive, so we had to make a bootable CD for the problem PC. He went to a PC that did have the floppy drive and made the bootable floppy...

Tomwd, you've got mail! This is an image for a bootable floopy! But you can still make the floopy, then use Nero (or your choice of burning software) and make a bootable CD. If you don't have a floopy, I suggest you get one.... IT'S NOT DEAD YET!!! Just kidding... I guess I could...

How much faster can a card reader give you over camera

I don't notice much difference between the two.... but it does save my camera's batteries (uploading the pictures on my card reader).

Good to hear! Yeah... I've seen a few of these HD's come up with "Unmountable Boot Volume" and discovered that it (basically) is an error (or flag) on the HD that needs to be cleared (with some kind of disk utility). Windows CHKDSK won't clear that error. Once you check the HD for errors...

If the laptop is new enough, the USB will supported by the BIOS and will be able to boot from the external USB floppy. It would have to be fairly new (<6 months to a 1year). I have Hiren's Boot CD that has Partition Magic on it. It's about 62MB though. I'd have to RAR (zip) it up, split it...
