    i dunno, what i am heard, the current centrino chipset doesn't support dx9 , so we probably have to wait till intel release dorthan mobile chipset to be able to use the r9600 v -card. could be a while for waiting....

    well, the model @ microcenter doesn't heat up @ all, but then again, the battery is not in the system. whilst this is the case, acer travemate definitly heats up more than the compaq x1000

    I have a 120 gig western digital HD 7200 rpm (8mb buffer), and another WD 40 gig 7200 rpm drive (2 mb buffer, i think). whcih should I use as my main drive? and if i do partition the 120 into two logical drive, would that slow me down? (I originall purchased the 120 gig as a data back up...

    the laptop is actually about 1.3" thick on average , I think cnet measured the thickest part of the laptop (on the tail back ). 6.5 is decent, I mean for the price of x1000, it is not all dat bad. IBM T 40 is by far the best mobile Unit on the market today, surpassing even apple's powerbook...

    Compaq X1000?

    just got back from microcenter near my house, for the sole purpose of checkig out x1000. My impression, get it! the casing is made of aluminum, and it feels pretty sturdy. The lapotp weights about 6.5 pounds, and last about 4-5 hrs. The design is actually pretty good, very clean and simple.
