oops
I booted at 5 x 100 yesterday for some extreme power!
Normally run:
12.5 x 180 (is also stable at 12.5 x 184) 1.74V and 1.85V respectively
Gigabyte 7vaxp
t-bred 2100+ 0303
single 512 corsair pc3200 at lowest settings
Those are pretty high temps but as long as it's stable I wouldn't care too much. I ran an overlcocked tbird at 1456Mhz for a long time but my temps never got over 123F and were usually 113F while gaming. You might want to look into a better cpu cooler or improve the air flow in your case.
1) Open your boot.ini file in notepad. It is on the root of your xp install. If you can't see the file then make the appropriate changes in folder view settings so that you can see all files. Once you have it open in notepad you should see two lines under [operating systems]. Each line shows...
Yeah really, I doubt any scanned image will compare to a good macro from a digital camera. That's what I did when i got my 2100+ so I didn't have to write it down.
Ok guys, I appologize for the reply I posted. It was out of line and a bit too opinionated. I normally don't run my mouth as such on a forum, guess I was just in the wrong mood at the time.
AYHJA athlons were good overclockers. Quite a few of them were able to run at 1.5+Ghz. I had a 1.2Ghz@1.456Ghz for a long time but my original kt133 chipset held it back I think. I don't think there is any difference that would require a different fan other than one usually needed for overclocking.
On any Mobo without fixed pci/agp settings you are OCing based on pci settings. Once you have the pci bus around 40Mhz you are asking for trouble with corrupt data etc. especially with agp 4x enabled. I dunno what memory you have but most likely your pci buses will limit it first.
Throw away the @#@#@ng pencils and go get a conductive pen. It still amazes me that sooo many ding witties used pencils on their processors even thow "it worked" for alot of people. what a half ass mod....
It depends on what revision GB board you have. I have a ga-7vaxp rev.1.1 and had to do the L3 mod on my 2100+ to get the lower multipliers to work. A friend of mine has the rev. 1.2 and the lower multipliers work fine on his. (they changed the fsb switches on that rev.)
Update 6/30/02:-...
This thread isn't dead yet...lol. I've been wondering if FSB speeds are limited to the processor or the chipset/memory config. On this GA-7vaxp it seems to be limited to around 376fsb even though the memory is synced. and below its 400mhz spec. So I'm wondering if it's the chipset that won't...
I've been wondering about my temps too because they are quite low. I have a sk6/53cfm mechatronics 80mm fan(blowing down)/ASII and my temps never get above 112F and are usually 96F while not gaming etc. My rig specs are in the link below...
I've have noticed some strange things with prime95 as well. Prime95 runs ok on this 2100+@2250mhz by itself but when multitasking with other apps it usually won't run more than 1.5hrs before quitting. I haven't really cared because the system is really stable.
I had OCZ PC150 in my prior rig. It really did a good job so I considered them for DDR in the new setup but after not finding many reviews I decided to go with Corsair as well. I can be happy with a company that has a bad spell of products as long as they make it right.
Yeah I have service pack 1 and latest drivers. The sound issue was one of the first things I noticed after installing 2000 and later xp. Since I was booting all 3 at one time I could switch back and forth comparing the sound quality. Later drivers for 2000 made a significant improvement but xp...
I'm using a SoundBlaster Live for sound and have noticed that the sound quality doesn't seem to be as good as on 98se or 2000. Mp3s don't sound as clear or clean as on 98se. It really seems as if xp pro is dithering the sound somehow. I have check all the usual driver settings etc. and things...
make sure you don't have the sk6 on wrong. i fried a 1Ghz tbird once by not paying attention. the clip and sink must be oriented the right way. the thumb/screw driver tab must be at the top (in relation to the socket) and the sink touching the lower part of the clip when installed. make sure...
I've been using a 53Cfm 80mm Mechatronics fan on my sk6 as well. Initially I had bought the adapter but I decided not to use it after fitting the fan with the spring clamps. It is a tight fit though. The temp on my 2100+@2250Mhz doesn't go over 112F.
I have had it set on 1.74V since I enabled 333 fsb and overclocked it. I haven't tried higher voltage as I want to keep it for a while. The temp hasn't gone over 105F while gaming or prime95. I'm using a sk6/ 80mm 53cfm fan.
I've had a 2100+ 0303 for 2 weeks now. It's a good overclocker and runs cool. This one runs fine at 2250Mhz@360fsb. Not sure what the limit is on it, it ran ok at 2275Mhz but i slowed it down when i increased the fsb.
Thanks for the replies guys. I will test some more. I ran Prime at 2262Mhz for 8hrs and was ok. One thing that has me wondering is that Xp is showing that Dxr3 is sharing irq with Geforce3 even though Dxr3 is in pci slot 4!!! (Silly Gigabyte manual doesn't show irq assignment, I guess they want...
I know this might not be the best place to post this but since I'm overclocking a 2100+ I guess it's ok. I've been trying different fsb/clock settings on this GA-7vaxp. This processor's upper limit seems to be around 2275Mhz so I've been trying to get the highest fsb/memory setting while staying...
Ok, I have some early results on my new setup:
GB GA-7vaxp
AIUHB 0303 2100+
512MB Corsair PC3200
The processor is running at 2.262Ghz at the moment. I haven't done much tweaking/stability testing yet other than increase core voltage to 1.7V. I'm still amazed at the temps i'm getting: 91F idle...
That's a nice OC!!! I hope to obtain 2.2Ghz+ from mine as well. I haven't tried mine yet. I orderd a 512Mb stick of Corsair PC3200 this morning. I might be able to test it this weekend if the memory comes in. What temps are you getting at that speed?
Had posted this in another large 2100+ thread:
After calling around and reading I gave up on getting the 1700+ processor. Apparently finding a AIUHB 1700+ is almost impossible now. I ended up going back to the local shop where i got my AYHJA Tbird and picked out a 2100+ Tbred. I hope to post...

Hello Folks! it has been a while since i posted on the forums. I even had to create a new account. anyway, I have a few questions about running 333fsb on these processors. i have a GB-7vaxp and i plan to use a 2100+ or 1700+ on it soon. i'm not sure what memory i'm going to use yet but it will...
