How do I create a Win2000 peer to peer network?

Sounds like you're in a bind and on a budget. There's also a link to this somewhere over in the HotDeals forum, but check this out: CompGeeks 1000' of Cat5e, 100 RJ45 connectors, and a cheap-o cable tester for $42.50, + S/H. Don't know exactly exactly how many drops those Amphenol connectors...

Damn, Oaf357, you and I sure think alike! "Uninstall all firewall and virus checking software. In your Network properties remove EVERYTHING. In Device Manager remove your Network Adapters. Reboot. Make sure your Network Adapters appear back in Device Manager and then check your network...

Looks like you've got your password problem solved. I'm not entirely sure about your questions about renumbering your network, but if I understand, you're moving from a 192.168.Y.Z to something else, and are concerned about being able to access your servers from all hosts during the change over...

Silly questions, maybe, but have you installed "Client for Microsoft Networking"? How about "File and Print Services for Microsoft Networking" and enabled it? Have you assigned a Workgroup name? Is it the same for both PCs? Which protocol are you using? TCP/IP? Are you set for static or dynamic...

NTFS permissions vs. Share permissions?
