A 1080p capable TV set should be able to deinterlace film-based material from 1080i -> 1080p, and display all pixels correctly.
Aren't the existing matrixed Dolby EX tracks 6.1 instead of 7.1? With an additional "center surround channel" instead of 4 surrounds. Don't know, I'm perfectly happy...
Umm, I'm pretty sure we disagree about the problem. ;)
My position is that the conveyor can only apply a force on the plane through friction by doubling the speed of the spinning wheels, and that this is not enough to counter the thrust of the engines.
giantbunny,
I agree that the wording of the problem is probably 90% of the confusion here. My understanding of it was that if we stipulate at any time that the plane is moving at 10mph relative to an absolute orange grove by the runway, the conveyor is running at 10mph in the opposite...
The speed of spinning wheels of a stationary airplane on a 10mph treadmill: 10mph.
The speed of spinning wheels of a plane moving at 10mph on a stationary surface: 10mph.
The speed of spinning wheels of a plane moving at 10mph (relative to absolute ground) on a 10mph treadmill: 20mph.
Sounds like a presentation projector, do you have the exact model or contrast specs? What would you be using it for? It might not be optimal for home theater use, but of course at that price it should be a steal...
I also propose manually typing, should be faster since you don't have to release the discs from their clamps, slapping them in, waiting for it to spin up, spin down, etc...
Actually did this once for my collection of ~100, then I lost the db. :/
My Region 2 PAL version is Anamorphic. 576 lines of glorious resolution... minus whatever's lost in the 2.35 letterboxing. It is, however, a single-layer flipper disc. I never bother watching the second half, since the movie goes to hell thereabouts anyway. :)
A decent programmable remote should take care of that, but yeah, there are a lot of practical considerations... like the need for two sets of speakers. And it might be impossible to get it done well with a single screen, so a pull-down/motorized screen would be required for the theater room.. at...
I guess it's the cool factor. :)
Overall, a thin rear-projection fabric might be the best bet. With glass, you either have both sides matte-- in which case you get a blur dependent on the thickness of the glass, or one side clear-- which is bound to show distracting reflections.
Having only one side matte addresses the blur. It doesn't completely address light distribution, however. That is, you might not get enough light reflected back at the cinema room with just treated glass. Anyway you slice it, you'll have to compromise somewhere.
Nice. How's that High Power working out for you? From what I understand, since it's retro-reflective, it's not ideal for ceiling-mounted projectors. But I suppose the image is bright enough at the seating area? I originally went with a cheapo DIY screen for my Sanyo Z3 and have been looking at...
I think you're partly right, however, if god were to show him/her/itself beyond reasonable doubt, then you could prove theism. As a belief it's verifiable but not falsifiable...
If you like to experiment, try adjusting the color balance (even to unrealistic looking levels) before the desaturation. This is similar to using color filters when shooting tradition B&W film.
I think the 6.1 setup (or at least Dolby Digital EX) adds a Rear Center channel to a regular 5.1 setup. So you will still have your front center for dialogue and such.
Your NTSC Region 1 DVDs are 720x480... you should try a desktop resolution of 1280x960- that way you can exactly double the vertical resolution, leading to a cleaner upscaling.
The "average" cup of coffee or shot of espresso has around 100mg of caffeine. You're saying that a can of redbull has at least 2000mg? Unfortunately, according to their website, it's only 80mg / can. I can't say anything about the effects of taurine and other crap in there, but caffeine-wise...
Although I can't comment on the specific models, I'd recommend against getting a touch-screen remote. Having no way to feel around for the buttons makes them somewhat clumsy to use, IMHO. I've owned and used an older-model Sony RM-AV2000 for a couple of years, and am now looking at "upgrading"...
But it has. Based on which two doors you left unselected, the game show host (knowing full well that it's empty), opens one of them. So your previous choice has ramifications.
Edit: As to the OP's problem, it seems to me that you always have a 50/50 chance.
Try it another 20 times. You just got lucky.
I wouldn't believe it the first time I read about the problem either. I think the key to understanding it is to think of two scenarios based on the first guess:
1/3 chance: You guessed correct on the first try. Changing the door will mean you...
