alot of that negativity is there cause those people didnt check the new drivers... they just still remember the old ones that had trouble...
some still say they have problems with them... but everyone i know who got the r9700 pro and such, including me, had no trouble what so ever with the...
i dunno... gainwards a good company... but 7dB is kinda weird... nothing i know makes just that much sound... even watercooling is rated at more than that...
your right... but i meant a new core to go against ATI's next core or the one after it... not the 9700... this battle they already lost... even if they do get better performance from newer drivers, they lose cause of the whole thing with the noise and heat and power consumption...
oh... and...
well... when you have a GPU with 125+ million transistors running at 500MHZ and drawing about 75W from your psu, you can expect a good deal of heat...
but they really couldve thought of a smarter way to cool it down im sure... zalman has passive cooling for gpus and i bet if you coupled that...
they could plan an entirely new core on .13... i doubt theyll leave it that soon...
maybe theyll be smart enough to use a 256bit bus this time... stop adding extra features over the needed specifications like they did with DX9 and maybe they can cut down on transistors... that should cut size...
you kidding??? it would probably heat the water up so much... its hotter than a cpu for crying out loud!!! now imagine someone running a single water cooling system... hes probably running it on a heavily overclocked cpu... maybe cooling the NB and HD as well...

anyone willing to spend 400+ bucks and take theyre luck at keeping it cool, while...
i just recently got the 9700 Pro and it wouldnt let me run the 8500 demos cause it said i didnt have a Radeon 8500 card...
obviously the 9700 wouldnt run on a 8500...
btw i downloaded what i think is the nvidia demo... though i think they said its just a screen saver... in any case it wouldnt...
ATI's demos check if you have the right card... they wont let you run 8500 demos on the 9700 if im not mistaking... so there is no point in trying to run them on nvidia cards... but i dunno about the nvidia demo... ill check... :)

the FX might give out more juice with new drivers... but since Nvidia had all this time to work on those drivers, im skeptic...
OC? na... cant... too hot as it is and once it is overclocked it heats up even more and underclocks itself to the 2D mode to cool down... and it does this in the middle...
ATI!!! but thats just cause 3DFX is out... :(
and i hate nVidia...
but besides that... the GFFX is a big failure... if you ask me... the R9700 is the lightweight fighter aginst the GFFX which is a heavywheight... and still the R9700 puts up a fight and beats the GFFX badly if you give it some OC...
Look... the fact of the matter is that at its current state, the GFFX isnt doing a very good job... sure its speed king... but heck, its pricey, hot, noisy... doesn't kick r9700p ass at all if you ask me... i to think they might clear things up with new drivers... but they did have those 6...
