Upgrading the RAM is easy.
Flip it over (turn it off first), unscrew 4 screws and slide the new RAM in. Just have to be sure the RAM is compatible since it is shared with the video memory. I put in a free AR 512 stick from BB, it took about 5 mins total.
Stopped by my local OfficeMax yesterday, they had the "slate" colored Microsoft Wireless Optical Notebook Mouse on clearance for $29.00. (YMMV in that I don't know if every store has them on clearance, they might).
Link to mouse at OM (blue colored version).
I thought there were rebates...
Dumb question, but will a slim DVD/CD writeable drive work on any laptop? No way, right? How can I check to see whether it would fit in my laptop or not?
Thanks in advance.
If it were me alphafox, I would wait.
I almost pulled the trigger on a Dell 700m about a week before this deal came out and for close to $800 (+ shipping?) you're getting a barebones machine...granted you already have some upgrades, but still...I dunno.
Also can confirm the PC 2700 Kingston...
I just got my laptop! w00t! :D
Weird thing is I never got an email and the TechDepot status page wasn't updated late last night...but it was this AM. And the Fed Ex guy showed up just a few mins ago (good thing I am way late for work or I would have missed them).
For reference, I had...
11 Biz days or 11 days total?
One of the FW guys called a CSR and they said 11 business days total before shipping - one for order to go from TechDepot to OD and one day for OD to China (or something), plus the 9 biz days it takes to build.
I was really hoping to get it before Labor Day...
Suggest you guys check out the older thread about the Compaq v2000z on here. It has similar info to this - same rebates, same rebate links, discussion about the printer, etc.
Should be able to complain to OD if they don't give you a rebate for the printer, make sure you get a copy of the ad...
Got my local BB in FL to do it today.
Didn't take much - cashier didn't know what to do w/ coupon, so I took it to customer service desk. $59.99 for memory and $30 for installation - $90 coupon = $0 (OK, I did buy the LCD Soundsystem CD for $14.99 :) Couldn't just rob them blind.)
Anyone...
Pretty sure it's PC2700.
Check this thread out, though:

FYI, I got my printer today (arrived yesterday but I wasn't home to pick it up). Sounds like some of the guys at FW are getting their laptops today as well (not...
Use this link"]link.
In the upper left, it says "Print this rebate and close this page". Use that or right click the image and choose "Save As...", then load it up in Paint or something and print it that way.
I think OD does match competitors coupons. Not that the coupon was just that - a coupon - and not a rebate.
I don't know if going in post facto would work or not - if anyone has tried it, please let me know. I might just call them and find out.
Got all excited when I got an email saying an...
It's an extra $46 for the 5400rpm HDD. I went ahead and upgraded.
My total package came to 1179.49 w/ tax. If that additional $100 rebate works, I'll be getting the following for $780 shipped (stupid tax and shipping). I also didn't look for a Staples coupon...doh.
My config:
AMD Turion...
I was a little confused, too, but if you reread that coupon it says (in some of the smaller print):
"$100 Select B-Y-O HP or Compaq Notebook computer with a Select AMD 64 Processor Mail-In Rebate"
I'm pretty sure by 2 items they mean the notebook and one of the additional 64 bit processors...
That would be cool (taking pics of a 700m), I've looked at a few reviews but it's always so hard to tell how big it is when it's just a laptop on the floor.
I'm *this* close to pulling the trigger, but when I was looking last night Dell gave me a 2% off code for being pre approved for their...
Valid Friday 4/1/05 through Sunday 4/3/05
Think each link has an internet code if you are anti-social and prefer to shop online. ;)

Mostly unrelated, but hopefully this year (2005), Nokia and Cisco are going to partner on a VoIP/wireless "cell phone". The phone will use cell phone service when outside and not in a WiFi area and when you go home/to Starbucks, it'll switch over to use WiFi and VoIP. Pretty cool.
Probably belongs in a brag/moan thread, but I gotta recommend letstalk.com.
Used their service(s) to pick up a Nokia 6230 for 89.99 after rebate(s) ($50 instant, $50 mail in).
Plus I get a $25 gift certificate to The Sports Authority. w00t.
Their order status is unbelievable - I saw my...
Heads up to anyone wanting a Cingular phone/service via amazon.com - they don't/can't transfer your number to Cingular (IIRC, it works with T-Mobile, Verizon and Nextel).
I was going to order a new Cingular phone this week, but am gonna have to find another provider since amazon.com won't...
Got an email from footaction.com:
"20% off $100. 3 Days only. Use source code...at checkout. Offer ends 10/28/04."
Use this link to get the code.
EDIT: Ha, their code is on their frontpage, anyway.
A friend of mine owns a landscaping/design business. He's pretty good at it and keeps busy (has an established customer base and what not). He's opening a nursery/office for his business and he asked me to look for a "point of sale" type of PC that he could use. He mentioned he wanted a...
My local Toys R Us had the XBox Live kits for regular price. Sucks, b/c I need a new headset (and an ew subscription), anyway.
I did pick up Deus Ex and XIII for $10 apiece.
Hrmm...I'll check those out when I go over there later.
I forgot to mention, it acted the same with WEP turned on/off.
Only when I switched to static IP did it actually get a valid (192.168)
IP and was able to ping the router. Otherwise, nada.
Need some help fellas.
Set up a home network (oh joy) last night. Got my buddies computer up and running
fine, he's hard wired into a DLink Wireless router (which is hooked up to a cable modem).
He bought a wireless usb adapter for his roommate (fairly hot chick ;) ). At first, without
doing...
Got my bag in yesterday.
Quality appears pretty good - it's not Army grade, but it looks like it'll hold up for quite some time.
It's definitely a cart bag - it has a *ton* of pockets on it, most of them on the side that would be facing
out of the cart, but lots on the sides, too. One "side" of...
Out of curiosity, where are their B&M stores? I've never seen one (NC, FL, NM).
My order just shipped - I'll update on the quality of the bag next week (or when it
arrives) if anyone is interested.
It's like that Miller High Life commercial, only better.
Friend told me about golfsmith.com earlier today - found a cheap cart bag (meaning it doesn't
come with a stand) for $29.99. Shipping was $14, which isn't too bag for something that big.
Link is here: Belding ICS-200 Cart Bag
I can't...
I think it was 7/13-7/14 only.
We got ours in yesterday. Looks great, 17" flat panel is niiiiiice. Now my
15" POS 4yr. old HP pales in comparison (this computer was for roommate).
My nerd ego is severely bruised...
OK, I locked in - $750-something after rebate. Not bad for a fast PC with a 17" flat panel. Now I have to go upgrade my box (this was for my roommate) :(
What's the deal with Dell Small Business stuff? If I want this PC, do I have to claim a small business/provide a tax number/etc?
My roommate has been wanting a computer, I'd like to go ahead and order this for her, but I don't want it to be hassle...
Picked up the $20 chips/holder from Toys R Us last night. Not bad, seems to be of decent quality and chips are decent (better than pure plastic). The deck of cards they give you are crap, but oh well.
The employees at my local Circuit City (Melbourne, FL) said people came in on Sunday to buy some of these games, but they had a decent selection left.
Some of the games were still on the shelf and not in a bin, the employee had a list he was using to pull the games off the shelf.
I picked up...
I dunno if this can be used with a PS2 or not...I think it can, but you might need to make some tweaks. gamefaqs.com probably has more info.
Anyway, decent deal for that price, although I'm not sure if the Linksys B adapter is cheaper still or not (that's what I use). Here's the link on CC's...
Yup, hostpc.com rocks. 300mb/8GB bandwidth for a ridiculous $25/year. Can't beat that. Support is
great, too (they use forums and always seem to answer my questions quickly).
