    F@H Stats for 16-Sept-2003

Thanks for the stats Josh, your efforts are appreciated. For the stats-deprived, you could try Dyyryath's stats for TA. Not as pretty as the old Extreme Overclocking site (which I suspect has gone down due to bandwidth charges) but most of the info is there.

F@H: Uhhh i just got a HUGE Work unit downloaded

What's the name? You can see the beta proteins here and if it isn't on that screen follow the link to the "general running projects" that appears at the top of the screen.

    F@H: Statistics for 26-Jun-2003

Well Mike, although your current rank is 59, there are only 2 people ahead of you in weekly production. Namely IceCreamMan and Poopflingers. Since the new big GROMACS units came out daily production can be a bit up-and-down, depending on timing of completion, so it's best to look at the sum for...

As they say....plus it's worth checking back in your log. I once had a faulty WU which sent the client into a "download new core then crash" cycle, after N attempts it went into a "sleep mode".

Crikey - you're going to overtake me in about a week's time! Welcome aboard, it looks like you will become our first "red" member. On the bright side, DAPUNISHER's overtake date has gone out to Mar 14 2008 thanks to a recent spurt on my part ;)

Since I put -advmethods on the end of my command line I have had nothing but GROMACS. And recently I have had about 15 of those p542 33 pointers on the trot. Before that it used to alternative with the p537s (18 points).

    F@H - Need Help <UPDATE-FIXED>

As mgpaulus says, please post the log - before you do that make the client print the queue information (right click for the GUI, not sure about the others). When the client prints the queue info, it also gets written into the log. Probably best to just post one log to start with, as they can be...

Good stuff! Progress up the ranks begins to slow after there, as you get to the stage where there are only 2 or 3 people per hundred point interval.

I hate to point this out Josh, but there is a problem with these stats :( Yesterday (the 9th) my total production was 1785, today it is 1863 - a difference of more than the 19 shown.

    Added a P42.4ghz to F@H....

I dunno what CA is, but -advmethods is a big win whether you have a P4 or an Athlon XP. Some timings: Athlon 2700 XP: 7 point GROMACS WU every 2 hours P4 2.2GHZ: 7 point GROMACS WU every 2hours 40mins In comparison, (if memory serves me correctly I've been doing nothing but GROMACS for over a...

Have they? I haven't noticed. Anything else running on your machine at the moment? Have you had a crash? Does it say "Optimizations on if available" in your log file for this run, or is it something like "Normal read loop operations" (I can't remember the exact message). If so, shut down the...

    British Aircraft Carriers

The current British carriers were designed & built in the 60's and 70's. And you don't want to know what the British economy was like then. We probably couldn't afford it. I think the next pair aren't either. Sigh.

OH NO, my LAPTOP is DYING... Please help me diagnose the PROBLEM!!!

In laptops there is a ribbon cable connecting the video card to the LCD. I've seen a couple of them fail and give problems very similar to yours. Try opening the case and checking the seating of the cable. I've had one replaced under warranty, but dunno if they are purchasable.

I want to get started? UPDATE:I started Folding

Orion7144, Did you add the -advmethods switch at the end of the program invocation (the shortcut in the Startup group and the Folding@Home folder?) Will give you a big boost in points on that P4 and a smaller boost on the Athlons.

Quickie - do the forums have this feature?

Ah, I see. All my folders were blue, though. It seems if you have "remember my login" checked it doesn't work. When I explicitly logged out and back in, then they went yellow.

best not biased site to follow the war?

Just discovered this thread, and I must say I am quite dismayed to see the BBC recommended as a source of "unbiased" news. That may have been true once upon a time (caveat meaning of unbiased) but is most certainly is not any more. As a Brit, let me tell you that the BBC is stuffed to the gills...
