e8400, playing with FSB and multi, no volt = higher core temps?

I just upgraded to a 8400 as well after being with AMD for years! I didn't notice a temp change till I upped the voltage. Tho I am watercooling. BTW, I'm running 1:1 8X500Mhz....

Correct me if I'm wrong but I assume I can't use a Raptor 74GB 16MB cache drive with my raptor 74GB 8MB cache in a raid setup? If not, anyone know where I might find a new 74GB raptor that only has 8mb cache?

This monitor any good?

I just picked this up yesterday at BB. So far I am very happy with it and not one dead pixel. I must say F.E.A.R looks damn good at 1440x900 with no ghosting.... Could just be my eys but I think this LCD has better color over my old Samsung 930B.

Best ram to overclock Opteron 146

Well I can say that I never had problems with Corsair but I also know that must 1GB sticks don't overlock to well..

OMG MY DREAM COME TRUE

Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't this card offer SLI performance for users with motherboards that have only one 16X slot? Also, wouldn't mean even on a SLI board that the card would be running at 16X speed and not be split into 8x/8x like current SLI boards (execpt for the new asus board)

That is very ture and I agree but just how many posts have you seen that have a SLI setup that do run at such a high res? In most cases I find people running at the most 1600x1200 because that is the max they can run with many running at only 1280x1024. Thats why I said what I said.

Your missing the point, I didn't say a faster cpu would make the game run faster. I said a anthing as slow as a 3200+ would be a bottleneck for an SLI setup.

munky, I do believe Anand has an article somewhere saying that even a FX-55 is a bottleneck for two 6800's. The game might depend on gpu power but a 3200+ can only pump out so much info to such a poweful gpu such as a 7800 that the cpu holds back the gpu.

Wanted: A driver fix for the HORRIBLE Nvidia shadow IQ in Farcry...

What shadow problem? I just reinstalled XP so I need to install Frycry again but just the other day I was checking for this shadow problem with my 7800GT and didn't find it anywhere, no even on the weapon models.

That would be a total waste. An A64 3200+ is already a bottleneck for a 7800 and having to will make that bottleneck worse. ascarytiger, if I was you I would see about upgrading the 3200+ or upgrading to 2GB of ram and for those that say you don't need 2GB of ram, I have seen BF2 take up...

Opterons 939 discontinue rumor = buying frenzy?

The buying frenzy was from the fact you could get a opty 144, 146, 148 for $300 or less (when they first came out) and overclock it to at least 2.6Ghz and with it's 1MB cache you end up with a FX-55. Some have manged to get 144's up to 3ghz on air. I paid $250 for my 148, it's running at...

7800GT idling at 50C

And last I looked GT's can do a hell of lot more then a X850XT which I used to own.... Anyways, my GT idels around 45C, which I believe is normal temp for GT's.

Just for fun.....

I remember it and still have the program saved. It was ment to bench DX5 systems. I remember running it on my TNT2 and watching that purple wave go frame by frame. Now it runs so fast it makes me laugh everytime.

Quick dual monitor question

I guess I'll keep looking around but I am finding it rather stupid that you can have 2+ monitors, each one running at a differnet res and yet the most you can get on the 2nd screen is a simple taskbar that has no start button.

I do have a taskbar at the bottom (no start button) and I have downloaded UltraMon but I still can't seem to find a way to get a start button on the 2nd display. At the moment I find it very annoying to have to right click on everything and send it over to the 2nd monitor.

Quick dual monitor question

I just got a 7800GT and a 19" LCD and thought I'd play around with the CRT as my 2nd monitor. What I was wondering is there anyway to get a complete taskbar on both displays? I'd like to have differnet desktops but with the same taskbar and start menu.

You might not want to wait. The rumors I'v read is that first batchs of the s939 opteron's are really using FX-55 cores and already two other steppings have come out that don't do as well as the CABNE stepping. I think after awhile these chips wont do as good as they are now, otherwise there...

Such as?? All I have is the heatsinks that cam with the 148 and the FX-55 I have. The FX-55 HS is a rather good heatpipe but I'm to lazy to mess with it right now. I will guess that I could do 3Ghz easily.

Well since it's a BBA card there is a good chance ATI could replace it. I have already emailed newegg once and they said more then likely they would refund my money. If they did do that I thought this would be a good time to upgrade to PCI-E and perhaps even a LCD monitor to take advantage...

That I did not know, I thought the MFT was just a index for the files. So why is it I have seen it move itself in the past? Would it be possible to make a custom XP cd and change some setting or something that will put it closer to the end or at the very begining of the drive?
