I agree, if it can handle the standard HTPC tasks, there's really no need for the higher performing chips since they'll just run up your power bill faster. I'm really interested to see some HTPC tests done with the Bay Trail version.

Check the manual and tell us if it's 6-bit or 8-bit. In case you're not sure how to tell, if it's 8-bit it'll say 16.7M colors and if it's 6-bit it'll say 16.2M.

From what I've read in other threads regarding this media the Made In Taiwan is Ritek and the Made In Japan is either MXL or TY. MXL and TY are both 1st Class quality so just make sure that it's Made In Japan.

Some subsequent searching lead me to find out that apparently the E616P1 is the same as the Pioneer DVD-121 drive and that the E616P2 is the same as the Pioneer DVD-122P drive. So I would assume that there's more than just the QuieTrack difference. Since no one seems to have the E616P1, does...

Dual Layer vs Double Layer?

That's not true. 'Double Layer' is used by the +RW Alliance to describe their 8.5GB discs and 'Dual Layer' is used by the DVD Forum to describe their's. AFAIK it's just a marketing thing, but I could be wrong.
