Screensaver crashing XP???

Thanks for the replies. I've actually been running this system 100% stable for at least several months. It's only been this latest install of XP that has exhibited this behavior. Perhaps, it is Norton antivirus that is causing my system to be unstable because it is the only new application...

HELP - WD 200gb not fully recognizing space

It was really strange because windows would recognize all 186gb. But upon formatting the second partition, it would immediately appear to be 20% used. So upon reformatting, this is what explorer showed: First partition: 96gb of 96gb free. Second partition: 68gb of 88gb free. Weird huh?

Does *THIS* P4 Heatsink/Fan combo *EXIST* ?

ThermalRight's SLK-900 is all copper and can mount using the stock mounting clips or directly to the mobo. Slap on a 92mm Panaflo and you've got a quieter and more effective hsf than the stock one.

It looks like the 800 MHz FSB P4's WILL be OK for overclocking

I always thought the question was whether or not the processors could handle the increased speed. Is it likely to see a 750mhz overclock on a brand new chip? I mean, only the latest 2.4 and 2.53's have enjoyed near 1ghz overclocks.

Will my mobo support a 200gb hdd???

I've read that some mobo's only support up to ~137gb hard drives. I have an Asus P4G8X-D and am considering purchasing a 160gb or 200gb hdd. Also, I'm using the Win XP and the latest BIOS. Will it work and are there any other considerations? Thanks in advance.

Post your Oc'ing experience for Fry's bought intel p4 2.4B c1 (SL6RZ) processors

Obviously, at the same fsb, the 2.53 will be faster than the 2.4. Just from my own observations, it would seem like more people have had luck with the 2.4 than the 2.53. It seems like there are fewer 2.4's that do not get into the high 170's. Whereas, the 2.53 is a little more "hit and miss."...

Any suggestions why this setup isn't cooler?

Try reversing both of the 120mm fans, using the rear (less obstructed fan) as an intake and the front fan as an exhaust. This may creaite a bit of positive pressure within the case and give you better inflow. Just a thought and worth a try. Good luck.

Asus P4G8X cpu temperature monitor accuracy???

I've read a few posts indicating that certain mobos do not accurately report cpu temperatures. I'm using an Asus P4G8X, and both Asus Probe and MBM5 indicate the same CPU and MOBO temperatures. Should these figures be accurate? Thanks a lot.

p4 heat problem

IMO, just get an SLK-800 or 900 and a good Panaflo fan 92mm L1A or H1A. You basically can't do too much better in terms of air cooling performance. Obviously, you can use a louder, higher CFM fan, but that balance is up to you to determine.

Problem with pop-up ads

I tried Popup Stopper, but sometimes it seems like it works TOO good. I know you can hold down shift or ctrl (forgot which one), and click a link and a window will popup like normal, but that seems like too much of a hassle. Are there any "smarter" popup blockers?
