I just updated to the 17 from 15 and now I can't find where to turn off the Silicon Image RAID thing in the boot. I don't use RAID and this thing keeps poping up after post and XP keeps trying to install drivers for it...

I am in a similar boat save the fact that I don't have a current gen card like you do. If I were you, I would hold on to what you have and wait. HL2 is delayed to April and by then the next wave of new GPUs will be out and making a decision will be easier. I am getting either a Asus 5900...
IMO, talking about it does kinda help me become more decisive. :P I have also been out of the computer loop for a month or so and hearing what people have to say does help.
I could almost care less about new games comming out. I will worry about new games 6 months from now when the new NV4x and R4xx come out. For now, I think I am going to stick to an NVidia card becasue it will do everything I want it to do for the games I already have. So basically it is down...
Wow...thanks for all the great input. Keep them comming. However, does anyone know when the new FX5950 (I think that is what they are calling the new refresh) will be comming out?? I can wait for that one but I will not go past early November.
I definately agree with you on that, but I don't think I could wait another 3-4 months. There is always something new around the corner, and my new P4 system is eager for a better video card to compliment it. I am not a big fan of the OCing so I am now leaning 5900 Ultra or it's new refresh...
Here is the deal: NO FAN BOYS!!!! I am finally getting around to replacing my aging GF3 Ti500 and I have done a decent amount of research, but I really don't know what to do. My choices are the 9800 pro 128 or the 5900 Ultra, and I would even be willing to possibly wait for the fall refreshes...
Both cards win some and lose some. As for IQ, ATI does have a small edge but IMO is not really that noticable. I am personally getting the 5900 cause I prefer using the extra AA features that ATI lacks.
I guess getting along is not possible so here comes my flame. Those of you who seem to only care about a measly unnoticable 5% difference in performance or a little IQ difference here or there, then you all need to get a life.
The LeadTek is a full Ultra with only 128megs of ram. I alos just noticed that it does not come with NVDVD (has WinFast DVD instead) like most of the other cards. The MSI doesn't say specifally, but they do not call their card ultra so I assume it is the lower version.
Finally got all my bios settings set to one that I am happy with: I let Prime95 go 25 hours before turing it off. 0 errors or warnings.
Mem 2x512 XMS PC3500C2 @ 400Mhz, 2-6-3-3, 2.7v
CPU and Bus @ Default (2.8Ghz and 800Mhz)

IMO 9800 Pro and 5900 Ultra are neck and neck with no clear winner. Both have goods and bads. 9800 pro has better AA, but 5900 Ultra is more future proof and alittle faster is some cases. Both have practially the same AS quality and IMO the 5900 Ultra is alittle more future proof...

I don't know what they are smoking over there at tom's hardware, but that is not too accurate. Listen to Anand and not tom. Tom even gave the IC7-g a really crappy review where as this site gave it a stellar review. Mine is wonderfull. Wish I could get one of those new fans though....:P
Nice....I am sending back my last remaing chip right after I beat half life again, so in the next few days. I was told the new TwinXs are comming out this week and next week. So, Iwill be on my AMD box for a wek or so. I hope those things work out well.
Hey Intelligence3, how did your mem tests go?? I just sent both my chips back so I will be able to get the new Corsair TwinX1024 PC3500LLPT modules. My box will be out of commission for a few weeks, but I really want those modules.
I think it has to do with setting the Bank cycle time (or tRAS) to anyhting less than 6 and memory quality. I sent a stick back a stick of XMS PC3500C2 that was not performing at it's spec time of 2-2-2-6 400MHz.

Turbo Mode and 2-2-2-6 2.7v has lasted 24hrs and no errors. Testing Ultra...

Performance Mode - Determines DRAM performance mode (turbo mode looks to be pretty rock stabel so far after 16hrs).

I should have tested each one individually from the start. I am glad my one remaining chip is super fast. Keeping my fingers crossed that the replacements is as good or better.
