Fast DVD Ripping with Sony DDU1621 16x Drive???

Got a Sony DDU1621 16X DVD (40X CD-ROM) OEM drive from Newegg. It was picked up by Win2K without any problem. However, I can only rip dvds at about 5x with this drive and I heard people have gotten to 10x with it. I just want to know if there is anything I can do to improve the ripping speed...

INTEL HSF in Retail CPU Package...Good? Average? Bad?

thanks for all the replies. I am thinking about pushing it over 3ghz by getting a good pc2700 ram or generic pc3200. (Right now I have a generic PC2100 from outpost running at 312MHZ...can't complain.) If that's the case, what would be a good HSF air cooling unit to buy? Any suggestions?

Albatron PX845PEV and Speedfan

My mind is not there yet... I have the same motherboard but somehow can't get MBM to work. I could only detect the CPU fan RPM, nothing more. Is there something I need to install other than MBM itself? Thanks.

CPU Temp on Albatron: DOes MBM work?

try www.overclockers.com worked for me when i OCed my first computer (2.4 to 2.83... stuck with PC2100 ram and can't go any higher :( )

i currently have a pc2100 ram. am thinking about getting 2700 or 3200 to get higher O/C results (2.4 running @ 2.8 at 155FSB). but i just bought the ram...:(

What will Crucial PC2700 overclock to?

A newbie question: what does each number denote? CAS 2-2-2-6 CAS2.5 7-3-3 got a generic PC2100 running at 155FSB on a p4 2.4 (c1). Anything higher seems unstable and fails the Prime95 torture.

P4 2.4B c1 Stepping Max Speed?

Duvie-thanks for your posts. I have generic PC2100 ram (got from outpost @$70 shipped). At 166FSB with stock voltage and 2x DDR (2.93 Ghz CPU), my programs kick me back to my desktop randomly and I ran Prime95 but could not last more than 10 seconds for the torture test. Then I clocked it...

when i got to 2.93 (166 FSB), i could get into windows and perform normal stuff. But when I played a game (broodwar), it kicks me out randomly. sounds like a case of the ram?

thanks that was helpful. in addition to settting AGP/PCI fixed at 66/33, is there any other setting I need to modify? eg. DDR ratio or voltage? I read some posts where people talk about vcoren (What is vcore?). The voltage in my BIOS read 1.525, do I need to up that? Thanks again.
