My hard drive noise is driving me NUTS!

I had two WD hard drives that whined like crazy, drove me insane. I just bought 2 Seagate Barracuda IV's to replace them, and they are silent. The only way I know they are seeking is by the HDD indicator light.

Sunbeam Rheobus LEDs: Anyway to change them?

just the thing i was looking for as well. thanks for the link. they are very very bright, especially since i leave my computer on all the time in my bedroom i've gotten used to the red/blue glow actually :P

Panaflo FBA08A12H fan @ MPJA for $2.95

I have the H1As as my exhaust fans (back and blowhole) connected to a Sunbeam rheobus, and they tick at lower voltages. It is quite apparent when they are the loudest things in your case.

Newish Antec True430 smells and sounds funny

The smell is normal, the noise most likely isn't. I would RMA it asap. I had the smell for the first week and a half after installing it, but it went away shortly thereafter.

Got mine from allstarshop yesterday and tried the softmod today. Scores went up 2000 in 3DMark2001SE, but checkerboards all over the place. Fill rates are up to 2100, but again, checkerboards. Trying to find a fix, otherwise I will just overclock it :(

Fan Controller

Sunbeam. I have 2 fans hooked up to a single channel, but the LEDs are too bright. But as a rheobus, it's great.

Rheobus problems,need help

Some fans just happen to make a buzzing/annoying sound at lower voltages. I have 4 Panaflos hooked up to a Sunbeam rheobus and they dont' make a sound like you're describing at any voltage. I would probably replace your fans, unless there is something defective about your particular rheobus.

Burn smell with Lian-Li PC65b

If you're getting the same smell I am, it's coming from the True Power. I had the 'smell' for about a week after installing it, then it went away. Not really a burning smell per se, but an electronic type smell, if that makes sense. I even emailed Antec about it and they said it would go away...

Radeon Upgrade Question

I'm not sure if it's just the fan, because I wiggle the entire card back and forth and it works again. Thanks for the reply, but I just pulled the trigger on a Sapphire Red PCB w/ L shaped memory from allstarshop. Supposedly a hack turns it into a 9700, so we'll see

Radeon Upgrade Question

My visiontek Geforce4 Ti4200 128MB seems to be crapping out on me. The fan just stops at random times and I have to fiddle around with the card, moving it back and forth, to get the fan running again. I suspected it might be the AGP slot on my motherboard, so I put in my old Voodoo5 and it...

Lian-Li PC-65 PSU question.

Same for me as stated above. I had to remove the lower fan grill to install my True Power 430 into my Lian Li PC60. Not too much of a hassle to reinstall once the PSU is installed though.

PSU quetion?

Antec TruePower 430 is what I have. I can't hear it over my hard drives. Thermaltake's products are usually louder than advertised, so keep that in mind

It may be due to the plastic in the dual fan setup. I can smell it strongly if my face is right near the fans (outside the computer obviously :P)

Epox 8RDA+ wont even boot... all new componets ....

Everything seated properly? If so, try another board, if available. If other board boots up fine, the Epox may be DOA. Either way, good luck

CPU Temps

Those temps are a bit high for idling in the BIOS. Granted you have a Palomino, which runs hotter than the newer .13 core T-Breds. You might want to get a stronger fan with your SK-7, like a YS Tech adjustable. That way, you can adjust the fan speed accordingly. I used to have the same...

I have the same smell, and if I stay too long at the PC, my eyes water. I requested an RMA from googlegear. We'll see what happens, I also emailed Antec to see what they say. I'm going to buy another from Best Buy or CompUSA, that way if it has the same smell, it's alot easier to return...

do I really need a case fan? best quiet fan?

The Stealth is not as quiet as advertised. It vibrates quite a bit at full speed, even with the screws tightened to the max and everything. I would go with Panaflo L1A, 24CFM at 21db. They are as quiet as advertised. I have 4 in my case now (2 intake, 1 exhaust, 1 blowhole) and at full...
