SoB: New Client for P4s

Well. we got those 30 pcs back, and 30 more to boot, though I am not sure how long we can hold on to them. so, we should be at full speed, and quit a bit faster than we were before by 5pm tonight.

this is bad timing it seems, but ORU has lost 30 nice computers for the effort. so that is why we are down. just thought I would give you guys a heads up. we may lose more, but the others aren't nearly so nice, so it shouldn't hurt as much.

hmm, maybe an FFT size limit has been reached. Everytime the FFT size goes up, performance goes down.

SOB: Those of you that run SOB on SMP systems ...

I believe that SOB is memory bus limited in all most all computers. case in point: I have a AMD 1900+ (1600MHz) at home. It ran at about 210kcem with my oldish Via 266a MB. I switch to a brandnew Nvidia MB wth dual memory channels, still running at 266 and the same memory modules, same CPU...

The good news is, even though we are running slighty faster than TA during the week, you are pounding us on the weekends, and you will notice, over all, we are actually falling back, 2 weeks ago, we were about 30T behind you, now we are 31T. *sigh* :(

Ah, yes, it could go on forever, the beauty of the project is that as we find primes, the faster we go. The client should change numbers to show how many k's are left to check. it should be a 12 now. :) The odds are that will find the next prime before we hit n=4.5 mil. The reason that...

SOB: K62 400 wont crunch?

It will run, it just takes a long to do the intial setup. That being said, I gave up on my K6 for SoB about 2 months ago. I switched it to run as the secret user which does some double checking and is running far lower n values, and so therefore, much faster, and so is therefore much more...

hey, I just noticed something. ORU is about 30T behind TA, and TA is about 30 behind TPR. That means ORU would have to double our rate to catch TA before you catch TPR. Of course that is all academic now as I am not even staying current right now. School is out, so, we are going to be down...

I think that we have pretty much settled back to normal, I think we might still be 1M high or so. As for us catching you, it seems to me that you are 30 days ahead of us catching 1st. AT should catch TPR in 57 days, and we will catch you in 91 days. So, that means we won't even catch TPR...

Macgyver's high rate is due some intrateam squalbling here. If you change the username in the client, and don't flush the cache, the stats go crazy till that test is finished. It will settle back down. We just wanted to scare you guys! (not really) But, I was impressed when I saw the bump...

I am not sure, I would just completly stop/shutdown the client and see if it does that same thing for the next block. the above link seems to sugest that it will just start working again.
