What is the DVI max cable length?
Are there extenders around for it yet?

- Importance of Black2White, White2Black, Color2Color (Grey2Grey)?
Wow, sounds like everyone likes it!
BUT, it came with NO instructions what so ever. I assume if I actually bought it (instead of beeing packaged with the vid card) then it would have come with lots of booklets/directions????
A game called Morrowind came with my new AIW ATI 9700 card.
No documentation or anything about the game came with it.
Should I bother playing it? Do I need any documents to play it?
Just a note for the AIW & Windows XP users.
If you've turned off Short Filenames ( tweak) then the install for RemoteWonder will not work (somewhere ATI is using short filenames for it's install).
Don't forget that if you haven't accessed it for a while and you have your power saving options on then the disk will be powered down.
I forget now and then, then hear the drive click and spin-up.
I've seen 5 inch flat cables......never did find a short round cable.
Although the spec might state a minimum, I'd like to see a RWT with a modern controller that shows error rates.
I'd be surprised if the error rate increased.
Most cases are designed so the side fan will blow onto the CPU/heatsink......
It's all about air flow through the case, the more the better.
Actually, takes some pretty good engineering to make sure there are no dead spots in a loaded case.
Still don't know why there aren't more ducted CPU cases!
I have a DigiDoc with 8 temp probs.
CPU (inside Heat Sink)
GPU (inside Heat Sink)
Hard Drive (thermal tape - flat probe)
Memory Heat Spreader (thermal tape - flat probe)
PSU Intake (on Fan Grill)
Back Fan Out (on Fan Grill)
Blow Hole Out...
If your using WinXP it doesn't really matter. It gets increased if needed anyway. And WinXP does a pretty good job managing it compared to prior versions.
Only way to really make a difference is if you place it on a separate drive and channel from everything else (even then it probably won't...
Well, if you are a WinXP user and you open up several browsers, Outlook, and say MS Word, then ooops there goes your 512 Mb. Of course if you like waiting for paging then your fine ;)
Don't forget all those nice little things most people are starting to always run (anti virus, firewalls, etc)...
1) Unfortunately (for MAC) a lot of the software that used to be developed for the MAC first is now being produced for the Windows platform first....the second platform usually gets short changed. This is just a matter of economics for the software shops.
2) 1 Gig is easily used by programs...
Yes, you can change "My Documents" but how about everything else that goes into "Documents and Settings"?
I've gotten about half of it changed, but it still would be easier to just change the default %USERPROFILE%.
Windows Messenger is not MSN Messenger.
Windows Messenger will continually try to make an out going connection while running.
I stopped and disabled it, but I know it is also part of the .NET platform.....still trying to track it down there!
ZoneAlarm is very good about telling you which way...
Windows XP Pro
OK, I went to services and Disabled Windows Messenger, but ZoneAlarm still keeps showing Messenger trying to access the internet. Does anything else have an embedded Messenger service that could be causing this?
Thanks
You can get up to 4 if you use a thermoelectric cooler. Don't know that you can get past 3.5 without having some active cooling.
My 3dMark03 is 4400 with an ATI 9700pro and p4@3.06....all running at stock.
I've never been able to get real temps from monitors on this board. 127c is some default reading I get when I read these with programs other then EasyTune, which gives me the correct temp. I have a DigDoc5 monitoring actual temps for all sorts of things and they are all fine.
I'm having a TOUGH time getting my XP Pro system to see my Win98 Machines.
All computers hooked up to switch.
All on same Workgroup.
TCP addresses through DHCP from ISP.
TCP & NetBEUI running on Win98 machines (pretty sure they use NetBEUI to share files/printers).
TCP & NetBIOS on TCP running...
This is true, but it doesn't drive them nearly enough IMHO. Maybe if they were all high speed fans this would work a whole lot better, but the stock case fans I have are too weak to be driven this slow....a shame they don't let you switch the power driver between low-med-high speed fans.
