How is AMD releasing 7nm CPUs next year and Intel's still stuck on 14nm?

Interesting, thanks for the insight guys. How is it a marketing term? For consumers? cause they barely know the difference between a CPU & GPU let alone 7nm & 10nm. Samsung & Qualcomm are already creating 7nm CPUs for mobile, those are also different?

How is AMD releasing 7nm CPUs next year and Intel's still stuck on 14nm?

As the title says, what the heck happened? I'm still rocking my 4790k from 2014, and to think that intel has been stuck on 14nm for 4 years while AMD is surpassing them with 7nm next year is quite a shocker! Is intel really going to stick with 10nm or skip to 7nm? Did intel not care anymore...

all are unlocked?? I just don't see why anyone would pay the premium for the others then? The 300mhz difference must be ridiculously easy to achieve in an overclock. Speculation about binned CPUs doesn't make any sense based on how CPUs are created in the factory.

i dont get it, the 1800x and the 1700 are only 300mhz apart (all other specs seem the same), yet are $150 apart??? I'm guessing the 1800x is unlocked and that's why the price premium is there?

GTX 1070: GIGABYTE G1 Gaming vs. MSI GAMING X

Use the Gigabyte OCGURU program to manually set the fanspeed. As long as it doesn't go over 80c u should be fine. I put mine to 50% until 80c, and it's quiet. The default fan settings are over protective.

4770k vs 4790k For Gaming?

He's not gonna see anywhere near 10% performance difference. It's the same CPU generation, it's not a generational leap. OP get whichever is cheaper & call it a day. The 4790k didn't exactly wow reviewers as it showed no improvement over the 4770k. I have a 4790k cause I got it on sale...

Samsung is king in SSDS now. This company is a juggernaut and nobody has the resources to compete with them. It's a massive company: it's R&D budget alone is prolly bigger than most other SSD companys entire market cap. :O So yea, 850 series FTW.

OP you said time for another Fermi, but the Fermi release was a disaster for Nvidia. It got panned by reviewers and ran way too hot with a leafblower for a fan. From all post Fermi releases it looks like they learned their lesson and it certainly wont be another fermi release.

1070 or 1080 and question about 1440p

At what price point is a 970 or 980 the best choice?

I'd fairly value it at $50-$70 cheaper than a new rx480 or gtx 1060. Anything more than that and u got a great deal as they perform on par with those 2. But really, is it worth it to save $50-$70 for a legacy product? Just get a new card as they will support DX12 when those games get released in...

Nvidia's last quarterly sales were 1.2 billion dollars (so 4.8 billion a year roughly). A 1.3 million dollar payout is nothing for them.

At what price point is a 970 or 980 the best choice?

a gtx 970 @ $150 & a gtx 1060 for $270 i'd go with the GTX 970. I love mine and it regularly runs games @ 3.8GB-3.9GB VRAM, Nvidia's drivers do an awesome job of managing all the memory and it's never been a problem for me.

Nintendo Switch is powered by NVIDIA

Nvidia came out and publicly said they didn't develop pokemon go and therefore are hardly making any money on it. Sending their stocks plunging 20%. It's developed by nunatic and played on Smartphones. Nintendo has very little to do with it.
