I have family members with both audigy and audigy 2 soundcards. They both sound superior to the Nforce onboard sound on my Asus as7n8x, but not by a great margin. I think the Nforce onboard sound is more than adequate for most users. It's definitely superior to Creative Live...

Rudipooimp, I'm not familiar with that error message. Did you set bios settings at default/safe level? Overclocking or setting memory timings to aggressive settings when trying to install an operating system can definitely cause problems.

Turns out that I had adjusted memory timings in bios to the most aggressive setting. One of the settings was either 1T or 2T...When I changed it to 2T, most of theproblems disappeared. Changing the memory to run at 133 Mhz., instead of 166 asychronously, improved stability even further. I...

You might want to try changing the jumper to an alternate from how it's set initially, or change to another controller. Sometimes this is helpful in allowing the system to properly recognize a drive
