Pottery Barn sucks - never shopping with them again

This Pottery Barn sells cheap junk at insane mark ups and there designs are nothing special at all. Better off at Target, same quality and often better.

Ultralight lappy with 1920x1080 or higher, replaceable HDD, upgradable RAM?

If you are doing video/photo work then I think the answer is not to worry too much as all laptop screens are pretty lame, and just get an external IPS monitor for photo/video work and get something that is small and light that will fit in the backpack. 1920x1080 is really not enough for photo...

Anybody have a 6th grader?

My boys are now in high school. They both have basic 15 inch laptops and they are more than sufficient to there use. I would not want a tablet for any type of typed assignments. Schools though do sometimes have specific programs that they might want the students to use, and if that is the case...

Got a new Car! 2010 Jetta

I have had over 10 VW's and had no major issues with any of the except for 1990 VW Passat that had a bad auto transmission at 125,000. I would never buy a VW auto, or any other auto if I could help it. I have had them up to as many as 425,000 miles (used to drive 50,000+ a year). Not maintenance...

I actually had a hard time at a local restaurant. They did not speak very good English and I think they did not understand what the sales person had sold them on. I was a regular customer but they made it clear they would only accept the one coupon.

Need a good value graphics tablet (digitizer?)

I have a Wacom Graphire (I think 6X8 the med sized one) on one system and a Medion on the other the Medion was like $49 at Aldi supermarket and I prefer it. It is bigger and the pen while it takes batteries it seems just as responsive and there are a bunch of customizable buttons along the edge.

Epson 1400 Photo Printer $129.99 BB YMMV

I have had a few Epson's and never had a problem. I had (still have it in a closet somewhere) 777i and a R200 with a continuous ink supply. Both have been great. The 1400 is really a good printer if you are ok with dye ink. That is why I am getting a R1900 more money but pigment ink.

By the way I don't think you need to be a member of Sam's club to partake, like the photo center. I know that in the case of BJ's you don't have to be a member of BJ's to get the cell phones through the vendor on site. I think they are an independent contractor.

Convertable or hardtop?

Yup, I have driven my Miata year round in Upstate NY with no issues. Great in the snow. But then again I have driven motorcycles year round years ago. (Too old for that now, and driving one in the snow is not for the faint of hart!) I also have never locked the doors on my Miata in the 8 years...

I think more important than convertible or not you do not want front wheel drive if handling is important! You want rear wheel drive, or all wheel drive. Front wheel drive just biases the car to way too much weight in the front, and puts both steering and power demands on the same wheels, not...

Do HD drives die faster if you stand them vertical?

I know the machines at work, crappy old Dell pc's HDD die very quickly when mounted on there sides. But that may have to be with being crappy old 900 Mhz PIIIs!

Any car leather cleaners/protectants that don't make the seats shine/slippery?

Yup this is the stuff! I would suggest 303 for the dash and what not, has a very natural look to it. No grease for me! Armorall is bad stuff anyway. The stuff leaches out chemicals from the plastic and you need to use it more and more, kind of like an evil loop.

Yea that would be for the TTNC OP I know it can be hard for some folks. I have 4 (without really trying) and they are all healthy and I count my blessings every day. My brother on the other hand had no such luck, but makes a good uncle.
