Some IT depts will let you connect if you have up to date AV/firewalls etc, several companies I've worked at have allowed this in the past.
If you did get them to agree to adding a Win7 build to the domain then you could always use XP Mode to run any legacy IE apps that didn't work in 8/9.
Ah ok, wondered if it suffered from similar issues to the E6400 where the CPU would throttle excessively - usually when connected to external displays. If it's doing the same when undocked then guess not.
Wild stab in the dark though - is the BIOS updated? Remember all kinds of thermal/CPU...
Have you tried running through a Ubuntu installation to see if that fails at all - just thinking of ways to narrow down the issue, also - can you install off a USB drive or similar?
Yeah, you'd have to start afresh. If you want me to take a look remotely then I don't mind doing that - it should be easy enough to get the mail sorted out and at least work out what they've done with the files at any rate.
I'd say it depends on the organisation and as others have said, it depends on the tools they give you to do the job and whether there is a call center approach or something more flexible.
With the right organisation, I've always thoroughly enjoyed it - worked my up from tech support to network...

Do you get a blue screen or does it power straight down?

For the files issue, what are they on at the moment (USB stick, DVD etc) and how does it display when attached to the Windows 7 computer?
£73
Sky HD+ subscription (Sports/Movies HD etc), PVR
16Mb Broadband (768k upload)
Landline
Should probably also add the yearly TV License of £142.50/year as well so monthly cost is around £85 in total.
The upgrade should work although I would recommend a fresh install.
However, I did read that Microsoft were keen for people to try the upgrade from Vista with the forthcoming RC of Seven as this will be a real-world scenario when it comes to release time.
Great game, pleased United won although as a Spurs fan it doesn't make much difference. I think overall the better team won - possibly there'll be a breakup of Chelsea now, Drogba is almost certainly leaving, maybe Lampard too?
Must have been emotional for Bobby Charlton and the other Munich...
I seem to remember an old game on the Spectrum :)
Monty Python's Flying Circus it was

but the one you are thinking of is Monty Python's Complete Waste of Time I think
Is there a CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) equivalent you can contact? It sounds like it should be pretty straightforward. Do you have anything documenting the work you carried out?
