It really doesn't take that much to get a box established. Pullup bars, rowers, GHSD machines, rings and balls. Add boxes for jumps and speed ropes and there isn't much you cannot do.
Back in the day I folded on the PS3 for weeks at a time. I still gamed on it and it lived for 4 years before I sold it to finance a new one. I have not folded on the new one just because it's not convenient. I agree that it is NOT recognized for the work it does but perhaps that is due to the...
I was number one on the folding team for many years. I'm still folding but have given into my various sysadmins who tell me that servers shouldn't fold and that folding is a PITA so I'm less involved.
I guess it was about the time I got divorced that I quit posting regularly and then lost...
Consider joining a Xfit box and get a few real life buddies? The suffering you will endure is real and the common experience will bond you in a way that cannot be duplicated over ethernet.
Just sayin,
Gravity
Are you progressing towards eliminating the bands? Have you worked on your kipping pullups?
Xfit is an amazing workout and the fellowship of suffering with other humans is an important part of the experience. I'm drawn to it like a moth to a flame.
Don't quit,
Gravity
Meds plus exercise have worked to speed the end of depression in many individuals. Good research exists on how your brain responds to exercise in much the same way that meds try to compel it to.
Give it some thought and consult your doc. If you want to get extreme about it, join a Xfit box...
Great Blog!! I did Xfit for about 6 months last year and loved the suffering with fellow human beings. I have a box at work now and we do workouts periodically. I cycle most of the summer and race several times during the season so getting too much upper body muscle is not desireable. I'm...
5 fingers are what I use. I did crossfit for about 6 months and they like minimalist shoes. Running shoes are a definite problem as they tend to elevate your heel and provide an unstable platform.
Gravity
I think Joe baited him. I recall him asking Joe if they were on a delay and Joe said "sure." There was clearly no delay and no one working to catch saucy language. Bad timing for sure.
Gravity
Thanks for the warm welcome. Lots has happened since I left but I'll be back around to keep up with what's happening in the folding community.
I missed this forum and the folders that make meaningful contributions to this effort.
Very best,
Gravity (Tom)
Good work Team!
I was gravity here long ago but cannot recover that account. I'm Gravity in the folding stats and still folding some but not as rabidly as I once was.
Keep it up,
Gravity
Yup, summer has an impact on me too. I run a small AC unit in my folding room and until it gets really warm, I'll keep the boxes open. It was 54 this morning so i'm enjoying the weather. There will be outages soon, shutting down the farm when I go on vacation this weekend. Ahhhh....summer...
Congrats Mark! I know as few others do about the personal investment, the electric bill, the hours configuring and troubleshooting. Your work to help the science is noteworthy and I hope you continue to fold like a banshee for many years to come!
Keep folding,
Gravity
Welcome to the team Loafbred! MFW, congrats on the big 25 million point milestone! Dang, is it getting hot in here or is it my Gpu? I've started wearing earplugs when I go into my laundry room where I have several rigs running. The high whine of fans is killing my hearing!
Keep folding...
I've run the 260 216 and the 260 stock in the same boxes. I've mixed and matched with good results. I've run 9800's with 8600s consistently. Put your fastest card in the first slot and consider the 2nd slot production gravy, reglardless of what it is. It's best to match but like I said, I've...
Well, it's more than a hobby for me. It's a passion I suppose. I fold at a high personal cost and right after my divorce I dropped all interest in folding. That was before the smp client came out. MFW inspired me to give the few boxes I had folding some additional attention and I applied a...
whoa, just welcomed three of those I7's to the fold to replace q6600...well, honestly, nothing ever gets replaced in the Gravity farm. I have some old dell laptops and old single core AMD units that are crunching single core units. I was only running one or two smp clients on them. Had yet to...
I expect you to leap ahead of me soon. I too will be dropping a few boxes when the heat hits. Although, I have a window unit from hurricane Gustavo, I'm interested to see how much heat it can dissappate. I'm sure there's a way to do btus and heat generated but I'll just put in in the game...
I'll be 46 this year Mark. I'm an old guy; I stay in shape but the calendar and the clock tell the truth. Atlas Folding is a true to life story of someone that has a family member suffering from a disease that is being studied by Standford. You can read about his exploits here.
I guess...
Good work team! Old guys like me and Mark stand to benefit first from this science. I hope that all will benefit from our work and investment. It's cool to race and I predict a day when we add an "Atlas" to our team that redifines what it means to be #1 on our team. Keep folding, keep...
I have cards with different shaders folding on the same board. The 2nd card is dumbed way down though :(
Too many cards, to little time to research.
Keep folding,
Gravity
I'm watching my clients a bit closer these days and my interest and available time waxes and wanes.
I see these robust GPU clients that are worth over a thousand points (5903 - 1680) but they take a long time to complete. Is it worth the time to have the adv flag posted to get the larger or...
Most of my cards are EVGA. I like their precision tool, their RMA policy and their upgrade policy. I spend some time in their forums reading faq's on overclocking, shader tuning and bios flashing.
I was looking for a promotion that might lead me to a free game as I just purchased 6 260...
