GeIL DDR memory

drewksi's post reminded me of this. one bad thing about geil memory is it takes a HIGH voltage to run effectively. this is something that people overlook, which probably is the cause of their bad experiences. in every review and from personal experiece, it warns the need for high v.

My Overclock

heh lots of 1700+ and 2100+ are doing 2.4-2.6 on air for a lot cheaper than the 2600+ friend just got a new 1700+ and after 1 day burn it he got it up to 2.56 @ 1.75v air.

the higher end geil products are very good quality. esp w/ winbond if your going with geil get their platinum or ultra platinum cas2 series and you will be fine.

Won't boot for the first time!!!

are there any beeping noises? it could be the motherboard's failsafe. make sure everything is in right esp proc +hsf also try booting without pci cards/hdd etc... if none of that works try the processor in a different mobo and a diff proc in that mobo.

To OEM? or NOT to OEM???

each has it pros and cons from and overclocking standpoint. generally in the past you would want an oem chip because (a)cheaper and warranty is useless(voided) (b) gauranteed stepping. however now some places are starting to gaurantee retail stepping which is nice. chizow's #2 also seems to...

it all depends on how much youre willing to spend id like some geil pc3500/3700 ultra platinum cas2 winbond 1x512~$200usd ive heard pretty good things about samsung 3200 corsiar/crucial can get expensive but they are nice

Newegg 2.53 Overclockers?

a friend got a b0 2.53 from newegg a couple months ago. maxes out ~3ghz but if youre lucky and get a good c1 youll probably be able to go higher depending on your setup

I need to clean my window on my new case, with what??

they do make ammonia free windex, i have some but use it for my car :P but the ammonia free will probably work i use "nice'clean" anti static cleaning wipes for electronic equipment. does the job on glass or any electronics

what were you getting with the 1600+ was it under the same specs? you also have a dut3c, while most amazing 1700 ocs are on the dL what are you other specs. are you using a minipc?

lots are getting 2.4-2.5 stable with the rare 2.6 it all depends on your other hardware, week, batch, etc... and some luck burning in helps also

i thought max multi on the a7n8x was 12.5? oh well, anyways if your not too lazy open your case and see what the stepping on the cpu is sell it on ebay and buy a 2100+ 0247 tbred b ;) dont bother w/c, especially if your temps are to your liking and noise is tolerable. you may want to get a...

Which CPU to overclock? Overclockers look here!!!

if your on a budget the 0308 or 0309 1700+ dlt3c jiuhb is your best buy. you can get them from excaliber or atacom guarenteed. you will probably have the better chance of hitting 2.4-2.5 on the 2100+ but the 1700+ are also very capable of this at a lower price.

i dont know where syberscott got his, but most ppl are buying their 1700+ from www.excaliberpc.com (0307,0308,0310) or www.atacom.com (0309) i think excaliber is sold out of 0308s already though after getting a shipment a day or two ago. the higher multis are dependent on your motherboard.
