For what it's worth, I'm using Corsair PC3500C2 in an Abit IC-7G with a P43.0C. The PC3500C2 is about the same price or a bit cheaper than the PC3200LL. So far, I've OC'd the FSB to 217 Mhz at 1:1 ratio for 3.25 Ghz with rated timings(2-3-3-7), but I have the peace of mind that I haven't yet...
Between Gigabyte and Abit...I kind of wish I went Abit, just based on featureset(or lack thereof) and price. The Abit IC-7G is about $10-15 cheaper than the GA-8KNXP but it comes with 2 SATA power adapters - that there is like a $15-20 savings. Also, since I decided to go SATA RAID at the last...
Does anyone know which is the better performing RAID controller of the two: the Silicon Image controller(on the GA-8KNXP) or the built-in ICH5R one? I know the SI controller has more features, but I don't need hot-swapping and I plan on using RAID 0 with 2 SATA Seagate drives.
The significance...
Forget about using the Corsair -LL sticks with the 875P, even Corsair doesn't recommend them. For Canterwood, I'm going with less aggressive RAM, and I think it's a good question whether or not to pay the name-brand premium when the 875P can't take aggressive timings.
I was wrong about ICH5, but it still doesn't have the features of the Asus. Still, $199 is a lot for what it has(and the Asus is even worse). Hopefully we'll see some better prices by the time the new Pentiums become available in mass quantities.
