I swear that I learn more from Modern Marvels than I ever learned in school.

I show Modern Marvels, Mythbusters, and several other Discovery Channel, TLC, History Channel shows in class and the students find them informational and entertaining.

Paid credit card bill a day late...late fees? Credit score?

Give them a call and nicely tell them your tale. I've been late a couple of times, but after a phone call, they've removed the late fees, notices, and any negatives associated with it.

What do you guys do to keep your cars clean?

I've read that ICE polish/wax/detailer or anything they make won't last too long at all. As Rossman mentioned, visit http://www.autopia.org/forum/ for more info, but there are better products that are longer lasting. I would think that you're ok with using a duster, like the California...

Where to get glasses

I've ordered from Zenni and $29 glasses and the 4 Zennis I got are keepers. I broke my $200 glasses and these $19 glasses are just as good and I don't feel bad if I ever break em. They're cheap enough that I bought 4, for backup.

I know these folks are trying to be funny, but the truth is, you can carry it on easily. The TSA only requires that you remove it from your bag and place it alone in a plastic container for the machine to scan. That's all.

Drink something strong if you wanna get wasted quickly and lose your inhibitions. I guess that's the point of drinking at clubs and bars. Unless you down the beer right away, you'll be babying it and it'll take awhile to hit you. You take a shot and will feel it a lot faster. 12 oz beer @ 5%...

Since I don't follow the Cubs, I was wondering if they walk him like they did Barry Bonds, since he is putting up comparable numbers. Even when the Giants were out of the playoff race, the reasoning was that other teams didn't want to lose, so they'd walk him.

help me decide what car to buy!!

I recently bought a new Camry for my mom and the Camry LE sells for the same price as a Honda Accord LX, $16,000 plus tax and paperwork, which comes to about $17,500-$17,700 depending on city tax rates and stuff. Keep that in mind if you're going to by one of these cars. You shouldn't ever pay...

Braking etiquette?

Depends on the situation. If there's heavy traffic, stay as close to the car in front as possible or someone will always try to get into the gap you're leaving open. No idea why, it just happens, both on the freeway and in the city.

You can say that again. I rented Day of the Dead and given how old it is, I was surprised by the level of gore it had. I can see how the effects in that movie could frighten people back then, when special effects weren't as great.

OMG... I saw a HUGE cockroach!

Find out what kind of roaches inhabit where you live. German roaches are the smaller types that cause a real pain. The oriental ones are pretty large and they're smart. If you're chasing them, they'll stop running until you get close and then they take off. They also climb into your bed at night...

Why is it so hard for me to get a job?

it's also late in the year to apply for summer positions. Every HS kid and college kid out for the summer wants those jobs, so it's still competition. You should apply and look around really early in the spring, to find out where openings are and to get your name out.

Why do people stick their frontend of their car or truck out so far that you will hit them if you don't go around?

That's correct. If they stick out and you hit them, you win. Same with parking lots, although those are private property and you'll need a witness statement. Either way, easy method to get yourself a new front bumper, airbag, or some moola.

My friend can enter fake numbers to call from that'll show on CID. I don't know how he does it and I didn't ask him, but he called me once and entered a 555-5555 for the phone number. So, given that that's possible, someone is probably just messing with you.

Car Adapters for mp3 players

What kinda car adaptor are you looking at? like a casette plug-in type, a FM frequency radio type, or a cable that plugs into an auxillary input on your car stereo? I don't think any of them need to be of a specific brand, except that the cable to connect to the auxillary input of your car...

True or False: You shouldn't stand near a microwave while it's on.

You're ok, unless you remove or damage the mesh that covers the microwave. The wavelength of the waves used by microwaves is larger than the size of the holes in the mesh. I think that's the explanation. Hopefully someone has a clearer definition or has taken a microwave class.

Why does the hair on your arms and legs only appear to grow to a certain length?

Only a guess, but maybe in the past, those with long hairs on their arms and legs were selected against. If that was so and if the trait of long hair on arms and feet is genetic, then you'd see less of it in subsequent generations.

I've never seen a plasma or other HDTV that looked better than my CRT TV.

It's a matter of personal preference in your case. If your CRT looks good to you, stick to it and save a lot of money :) I've seen sports and movies in HD and when you switch back to normal DVD quality, there's a drop and there's a really big drop when you're back to normal CRT.

Ipod/mp3 player/Napster question

If you read the news, there are people who have found ways to go around the Napster limitations, so you basically get unlimited downloads during your trial period. I can't say more, but it was mentioned on slashdot.org a couple of weeks back and I'm sure it's all over the net.
