Amd Radeon 7970, Linux & OpenCL

Thanks for the suggestion. I threw in a spare HDD last night and installed Ubuntu 12.04.5 and installed the 15.2 AMD drivers and got it working. A few trial and errors (more errors than I care to admit), but that's how I learn. ;)

Yeah, that's basically the same as maintaining Windows 7 box to keep that card in production. It's a shame AMD doesn't keep this card in it's updated drivers. It still has plenty of power (and draws as much), and with the shortage of GPUs right now, allowing people to dust off these cards and...

Curious if anyone has a way to get OpenCL drivers working under Linux for the AMD Radeon 7970 card. I have it running under a Windows 7 machine as the OPENCL drivers aren't available for Windows 10. Tried installing on Mint Linux 20.1, but AMD support for that card and Open CL seemed to stop...

Went mainstream and bought premade boxes and trying to keep my power bill under control. With the ATI graphics cards kicking but out in the wild, a quad core Pentium isn't going to impress the ladies. ;)

Is there a Freeware Applicaiton that can backup and restore an OS?

Title says it all. Want to setup my HTPC so that I can restore it if I decide to isntall and play around with Windows 7. There's been many people complaining that their cable card PID expires after a set # of installs (25, but that is unconfirmed). Thanks for any suggestions. Jay

Gigabyte Network Running Slow

Put in a commercial patch cable between the server and the Switch, still only getting about 65-80 MBits transfer between the Server and the Workstation. If I transfer files between the Workstation and the Family Room, I'm getting 200-300 MBits. Perhaps the issue might be with the NIC?

Crusty....check the diagram, I corrected the cable modem connection. The Buffalo Wireless G router is actually acting as a DHCP server (no way I was getting that many public IPs from the cable company). OK, I'll convert all the NICS back to auto negotiate. All my cables are hand crimped...

I've set all the clients to 1000MBit Full Duplex that are on a GBit NIC. Between the server and any client, only get a 75 MBit average connection. Between two machines (Family Room and Workstation), I'm get from 200-300 MBit connection. Might need to run a new cable to the server, but even...

I have a mixed network of 100 MBit and GBit. However, everything is running as it were on 100 Mbit only. The central connection point is a TrendNet GBit switch. But according to AnalogX's Network Monitor, I am getting only 100 MBit. All the wires run are Cat5e, which I believe can handle...

How to test SD Memory Card

How can I test a new SD memory card I have recieved. I can add about 700 mb to a 2 gig card, but after that I get error messages when trying to write on the card (via computer sd slot). TIA

Reccomendation on Budget Universal Remote

No go at the local Sears. I did pick up a Harmony H520 for $59.99 ( a little over the budget, but the reviews on Sears website made it tempting). Haven't opened it yet in case anyone has any comments on the H520.

I'm running WEP so didn't even look at that. I doubt it, and I've got some other hardware (DLink AP-810+) that I don't believe supports WPA either, so it's a moot point for me.
