Is it worth getting an lcd w/ a dead pixel, even if it is much cheaper?

i wouldn't recoment it as it is something you are gonna see every time you use the computer.. but it is up to you.. have a look at it and see how noticable it is... personally i think i would find it annoying and would rather spend the extra $100

i have found that a headset with mic is much better cos you don't get feddback from the speakers into your mic when the person you are listening to speaks and it comes out heaps clearer. :) i chat to a friend overseas and use skype see www.skype.com and it is great. for a webcam i just...

Digital TV tuners users?

hi all... i have a Aver tv DVB-T (digital tv tuner) and it uses around 40% of cpu time on an Athlon XP3200+ (paired with a geforce 4 4200). I was wondering if all digital tv tuners have high usage or if others do most of the processing on the card itself... thanks all :)

Installing new hard drive - extremely slow file copying

How are the drives setup? is one the master and the other a slave to it on the same ide channel? if so then you can only read OR write at a time.. which will slow things down heaps... Also make sure both are set Ultra DMA mode (and not PIO).

Intel Quietly Starts to Offer 64-bit Pentium 4 Processors

Well it doesn't make much sense for Intel to tell everyone they need 64 bit processors when they don't have one ready to ship? Once they are ready then expect there advertising department to tell you that you have to have one. :)

my brother got a dell laptop with a 128Mb 9600 pro card (pentium M 1.6ghz, 512mb ram 60gb hard drive) and it plays games great! though you want to add a mouse to it, to make it easier to use :)

Hi all, i have started getting some CRC errors on some of my burnt cd's. I have tried a cd cleaner kit, different media and burning the media substatialy slower (with nero) and am still getting intermittant crc errors. My burner is quite old and served me very well.... can i assume it is...

My pc is half dead. Hardware or software problem?

i would run the surface scan and see how that goes. If you don't feel confidant with the hard drive have it replaced, otherwise i would just re-install everything and see how it goes.

Newbie with question about mainboard temperature

i would sugest you remove one or both of the case side and see if that helps till you deceide what to do. you may want to look at getting a new case with more fans already installed.

Duron 1.6 Ghz vs. Athlon XP 2500+ Barton.......Will a noob notice ?

explain to him he has a couple of choices, like the duron and the 2500+ barton and explain to him the difference in performance and price. show him a bunch of different benchmarks. give him your recommendation, but let him make the final call. From a p133 everything will seem fast! :)

Stupid RAM question: bad idea to have different speeds of RAM?

Both sticks will run at the speed of the slowest one so there shouldn't be a problem unless you are overclocking your ram and one stickisn't able to keep up. if you suspect one of your sticks of ram is causing troubles, then remove one and run the system for a few days and see if you get any...

install XP on cdrom-less laptop: possibly from USB drive?

Network install would be the easiest and fastest way. (i haven't done this so i can't give any practical advice, but a quick search on goggle should help) If your laptop doesn't have a cd-rom check the minimum specs for XP to make sure it will run..... good luck...
