My spec: 3.0Ghz AIW radeon 9700 pro 2x512 kingston hyperx pc3500 abit Ic7 sony dvd drive liteon cdrw Whenever I turn it on it will auto shut down itself in 2 seconds! But it was working fine just last night. I haven't touched anything inside. What's wrong!?

I am not away that the retail cpu comes with any artic silver or anything. A while ago I asked around and almost everyone said the stock intel cpus have thermal pad ready on their HSF...

Shouldn't be too much of a difference. If worst comes to worst, just go get a GFFX5800 Ultra and blame the noise on it :)

I welcome any cheap and big storage media. I'm getting sick of losing my DVD/CD. You know almost every computer junkie is not exactly the clean type of person, we always lose stuff here and there :( With those new HDs I can devote a drawer or 2 to exclusive store them.

Current Best bang for the buck video card?

Depends on how much are you willing to spend. But I would think the next step ahead of the GF4 is Radeon 9500 Pro. If you are lucky you might even find a Radeon 9700 Pro for only $250.

Intel 845G vs nVidia GF2 MX400

Building Dream Gaming Machine

For the RAM, you might want to consider getting the PC3500 or PC3700. At the moment the Canterwood boards are having major problem with PC3200, even the Corsair guy recommended those. If you are buying those in August you might want to give the GF FX5900 a look. So far it has beaten the R9800...

Buying my new PC, what do you think ?

I would avoid DDR400 for now. Since most i875 chips have problem with DDR400 in dual channel mode. The Corsair guy recommended to get the PC433 RAMs.

New System - Is this power supply 'good' enough.

It never hurt to get more power... Maybe you will be future proofing should you want to expand your computer even further. That's of course if the cost of the 2 PSUs don't vary too much.

Er I guess some of those nice advices came a tad too late, but oh well, it's a college computer so... I don't give a crap about sounds, really. So the on board sound is good enough for me. The reason I get those Z-640 is mainly for show, I wouldn't play them too loud or the landlord will crack...

Build me an intel system for less than 300

$500 would be good enough I think... If you are lucky you might land a good deal with the new 2.4C, a springdale and 512mb ddr400. That's of course if you wait until the end of June.

Mac CDRW burning help needed!

Is there anyway to unlock a CDRW? Like after I burned something onto a CDRW I can no longer burn it on a Mac, nor can I erase the things there with a Mac, i can only read it with a Mac. Is there anyway to get around this? It's really annoying as I only have PC at home and the school only have Macs.
